8.1 Configuring a System as a Boot Server
Before you can boot Freeway from the network, the boot server and Freeway must be
configured to communicate with each other. Multiple Freeway servers can be config-
ured to boot from the same boot server. The following steps are required:
1. Create a file transfer protocol (FTP) or remote shell (RSH) user account on the
boot server (Section 8.1.2).
2. Define the system names and Internet addresses for Freeway, the boot server, and
the gateway processor (if applicable) on the boot server (Section 8.1.3).
Your system administrator might have already completed these steps during the hard-
ware installation procedures described in the hardware installation guide for your
Freeway. If so, skip this section and proceed with Section 8.2 on page 198.
