InadditiontotheDataRatesettingwhichcontrolsgenericdatatraffic,the
BasicRatesettingadjuststherateatwhichcontrolpacketssuchasBeacons
andACKsaresentataswellaspacketsthatneedtogotothewholenetwork
suchasBroadcasts.Becausethesepacketsarein
tendedforthewhole
network,theMaxBasicRatesettingoftheMasterisadvertisedtoeachof
theradiosinthenetworkthroughBeacons.Eachradio,otherthanthe
Master,theninheritstheMaxBasicRatesettingoftheMaster.Therefore
thesettingonlyneedstobemadeintheMasterra
dio.Thesettingineachof
theotherradiosisdisregarded.

Thiscontrolallowsforeaseofconfigurationforthefollowingcontrols,for
twospecificinteroperabilityscenarios.
RLX2BridgingoptimizesImmediateBroadcasts,BlockGeneralProbesand
RangeforoperationwhenpeerdevicesareprimarilyotherRLX2s.3

Clientsoptimizesthesecontrolsforpeerdevicessuchaslaptops,tablets,
phonesoranyotherWiFidevicesthatperformregularpowersavingare
expectingtoconnecttothisRLX2.Ifthissettingisnotused,theseclient
devicesmayhavedifficultyinfindingthenetworkSSID,andtheir
communicationmaybeerraticdu
etobroadcastsnotbeingtransmitted
whenexpected.RLX2Bridgingwillstillfunction,althoughtheRLX2willbe
respondingtoallscanningclientdeviceswhichmayintroducesomejitterto
databeingtransferred.

bethesameinallradiosinthenetworkandshouldbe atleastlargeenough
toaccountforthelengthofanylinks.However,increasingtheRangebeyond
whatisnecessarycancauseaslightdecreaseinthroughput.Thedefault

km,whichisvalidforalloperatingmodesofallradios.
Reducingtherangesettingforsystemsatcloserrangemayimprove
throughput.
