ANTENNA SELECTION
WHIP ANTENNAS
Only certain whip antennas have been approved for use with the OS2400 radio modem.
½? Straight Whip or ½? Articulating Whip (2dBi)
?? Most commonly used antenna
?? Length approximately 5 inches
?? Likely to be connected to a remote radio (connected directly to
the radio enclosure)
?? Does not require a ground plane
?? Function of articulating, the same as unarticulating.
Articulating antenna bends at the connection.
¼? Whip Antenna (2dBi)
?? Shorter than the ½? whip (2.5”)
?? Requires a ground plane, mounted below the antenna and
over the top surface of the radio
?? Needs to remain vertical (does not radiate well out the top of
antenna)
?? Works well for belt mounted remote radios
