Important: The values on this page are in non-volatile memory. Changes to these parameters do
not take effect until you reset or cycle power to the ILX34-AENWG adapter.
Field Description
SSID Assignanetworkname(SSID)ofupto32characters.Theradiousesthisnameinall
networkreferences.AllradiosinanetworkmusthavethesameSSID.SSIDnamesare
casesensitive.
EncryptionType Choosethemethodbywhichtheadapterwillapplyencryptionsecurity:
NONE(notrecommended)
WEP128‐Legacysecuritysettingusinga128bitkeyandWEPencryption.
WPA2/AES(Preferred)‐SecuritysettingusingWPA(presharedkey)
authenticationandAESencryption.
ThepreferredencryptiontypeisAES(Advanced
EncryptionStandard).Youshould
onlyselectWEP(wiredequivalencyprotocol)forusewithanolderclientradiothat
onlyhasWEPencryption.
WEPistheoriginalsecurityprotocolusedby802.11networks,butAESoffersbetter
protectionagainstattacks,forseveralreasons:AESusesanadvancedencryption
algorithmthatis
notsusceptibletothesameweaknessesasWEP,itperforms
dynamickeymanagementbychangingthesessionkeysfrequently,anditperforms
messageintegritycheckstopreventforgeryandreplay.
YoucanalsoselectWEP128,orNone(noencryption)astheencryptiontype,but
noneofthesesettingsarerecommended.
