1.7.1 Configure the Master Radio (Required)
ThefollowingillustrationshowsanexampleconfigurationforaRadioLinxIndustrialHotspot
(AccessPoint)configuredasaMasterradio.
Note: The radio in this illustration is capable of transmitting at 5 GHz (802.11a) as well as 2.4 GHz
(802.11b/g). The radio in the ILX34-AENWG adapter supports only 2.4 GHz (802.11b/g).
Inparticular,notethefollowingsettings.
NetworkSSID:AllradiosonthenetworkmustusethesameNetworkSSIDInthisexample,
theNetworkSSIDis"Point_IO".
Channel:Allradiosmustusethesamechannel.Inthisexample,thechannelis8(2447MHz).
Encryption:Allradiosmust
usethesameencryptionsettings.Inthisexample,theencryption
typeisWPA/WPA2‐AES.
Passphrase:Allradiosmustusethesamepassphrase.Forsecurityreasons,thepassphrase
fieldisreplacedwithasterisks.Makeanoteofthepassphrasebeforeconfiguringadditional
radios.
Important: Take care to enter the passphrase on the ILX34-AENWG exactly as you entered it in
the Master radio.
IPAddress:TheIPaddressforallradiosmustbewithinthesamesubnet,andeachradio
requiresitsownuniqueIPaddress.YoucanassignstaticIPaddresses,asinthisexample,or
youcanuseDHCP(DynamicHostControlProtocol)tomanageandassignIPaddresses
automatically
(page25).

specific steps to configure the settings in this example.
