IfyouconnectaradioandtheEthernetLEDdoesnotlightontheradio,youmayhaveusedthe
wrongcabletype.Inotherwords,youmayhaveusedacross‐overcablewhenyoushouldhave
usedastraight‐throughcable,orviceversa.
Useastraight‐throughcable
whenconnectingtheradiotoanEthernethubora10/100Base‐T
Ethernetswitch.Straight‐throughcablesareusedinmostcases.
Useacross‐overcablewhenconnectingtheEthernetradiodirectlytoanydevicethatisNOTa
switchorahub(forexample,adirectconnection
toaPC,PLC,orprinter).

thatarecolor‐codedandcannotbeswapped.Theradiousesonlytwopairs.Onepairusespins1

straight‐throughcablewhenconn ectingtheradiotoanEthernethubora10/100
Base‐TEthernetswitch.Straight‐throughcablesareusedinmostcases.
Useacross‐overcablewhenconnectingtheEthernetradiodirectlytoanydevicethatisNOT
aswitchorahub(for
example,adirectconnectiontoaPC,PLC,orprinter).
EthernetcablingislikeU.S.telephonecables,exceptthatithaseightconductors.Somehubs
haveoneinputthatcanaccepteitherastraight‐throughorcrossovercable,dependingonthe
switchposition.Inthiscase,youmustensurethatthe
switchpositionandcabletypeagree.
