4.3 Establish I/O Connections
WhenyouapplypowertoaPOINTI/OsystemandestablishI/Oconnections,theoutputs
transitiontotheIdlestate,applyingIdlestatedatabeforegoingtoRUNmode.Thisoccurseven
whenthecontrollermakingtheconnectionisalreadyinRUNmode.
4.4 Recover From an Overloaded Adapter
EachPOINTI/OconnectionestablishedwiththeILX34AENWGadapterconsumesaportionof
themicroprocessor'sbandwidth.Theamountofbandwidthusedbyaconnectiondependsona
numberofvariables,includingtherequestedpacketinterval(RPI),thenumberofPOINTI/O
modulesinvolvedintheconnection,andtherateof
changeoftheI/O.
TheILX34AENWGadaptercontinuouslymonitorsthisbandwidthandrejectsrequestsfornew
connectionswhenthereisinsufficientbandwidthavailabletosupportthenewconnection.
TheconditionwheretheILX34AENWGadaptercannotsupporttheconnectionduetoalimitof
themicroprocessor'sbandwidthisshown
inthefollowingdialog.
Ifyouencounterthiscondition,theonlyactionyoucantakeistoaltertheexistingconnections
toreducetheamountofmicroprocessorbandwidthconsumed.Themostlikelyfixesforthis
conditionincludethefollowing.
IncreasetheRPI.
Decreasethenumberofconnections.
