as described in Performing a Firmware Update section.
8. Allow the firmware installation to finish before disconnecting or using the unit.
After the firmware update is finished, disconnect Promote Control from the computer and press the
"Power" button to confirm correct operation. Promote Control will attempt to restore all saved settings
even after a firmware update failure. In the unlikely event that settings are not restored, re-enter them
manually.
9.3 Error Messages
This section details the possible error messages and descriptions Promote Control may display.
9.3.1 "Manual" exposure mode could not be set
Promote Control could not set the camera to "Manual" exposure mode as required by the current
operation. The camera is likely incompatible with the exposure mode automation used by Promote
Control, but it may still be used with a minor manual intervention. Use the camera controls to set the
camera to "Manual" exposure, then disable the Automatic Exposure Mode control setting in the Setup
Menu section.
9.3.2 A "Bulb" exposure is required. Please allow and connect an optional shutter cable
The current operation requires the optional shutter cable to be connected. See Connections section
on how to connect a shutter cable.
9.3.3 Exposure time could not be set. Enable "Auto Exposure Mode" or set camera to
"Manual" exposure
Promote Control could not set the shutter speed required by the current operation. This may happen due
to a number of reasons.
First, check if you set Enable camera settings check/sync Setup setting to "No", and set it back to
"Yes". This helps diagnosing most of the problems.
If the problem persists, there are a few possible reasons:
Problem: Promote Control tried setting an exposure time before camera was ready.
Solution: If you are using a shutter cable, use Shutter cable release frame delay Setup setting to add
more delay before shots. If you are NOT using a shutter cable and only use USB connection, use USB
cable release frame delay Setup setting to add more delay betwen shots.
Problem: Camera has not been set to "Manual" exposure mode.
Solution: Set the camera to "Manual" exposure mode using the camera controls.
