hARDwARe
The following section provides a summary of the front and back panel hardware features of the Vess R2000
Series enclosures.
FroNt paNel hardware
The front panel of Vess R2000 Series enclosures provide access to drives carriers. Some A-Series units are
shipped with secure covers to protect the drive carriers from being unintentionally removed.
For all Vess R2000 Series enclosures, defective drives can be replaced without interruption of data availability to
the host computer. If so congured, a hot spare drive will automatically replace a failed drive, securing the fault-
tolerant integrity of the logical drive. The self-contained hardware-based RAID logical drive provides maximum
performance in a compact external enclosure.
