changing a hard drive
Follow the instructions below to change a hard disk.
remoVe driVe
1. Make sure the J4 is powered o, detach the power cable and remove any attached underbolt cables.
2. Turn the J4 upside down and place it on a clean, dry, table, or similar at stable surface. Be careful not
to scratch the housing.
3. Use a small Phillips screwdriver to remove the ve screws that secure the top housing. Note that the
single screw at the bottom rear is longer than the four screws on the bottom sides. Do not misplace
the screws.
4. Hold the loosened housing top in place and turn the J4 back to the normal position (bottom facing
down). Place it on the table a li the housing top so that it detaches completely from the J4 chassis.
e installed hard disks should be visible.
5. Place the detached housing top nearby. It is a good idea to place the screws you just removed in the
overturned housing shell for safe keeping.
6. To remove a hard drive, rst remove the anchor screw that secures the drive in the bay.
7. Use a thumb to push the black exible lever so the hard drive is pushed away from the drive contacts.
It should not require much force to pop the disk out. Take away the freed disk.

CAUTION

from Electro-Static Discharge (ESD). Observe appropriate precautions at all times
when handling the J4 and storage drives.
