Advanced Auxiliary Functions
Today, with many photographers shooting digitally, camera
controls are often just a mouse click away, working from the
keyboard rather than the tripod. The new “Profoto Studio”
software offers the same convenience taking control to a
new level. From your computer, all of the Profoto D4 controls
are accessible in exactly the same way as if you had your
The relative f-stop’s value is shown as a value between
3.0-10.0. With 100 percent power being equal to 10, with the
reduction of one f-stop in power the display becomes 9.
An f-stop increase of 1/10 will be displayed as 9.1, 9.2,

Total Control
After clicking on the “Individual” tab, each pack connected
to the computer can be selected separately. With a click
on the “All” tab, up to 127 packs can be controlled
simultaneously, or in different groups after clicking on the
“Group” tab. This means that you can make one group
for the light bank, one for the background light, etc.
The generators are connected to a computer using standard
USB connections and HUB’s.
On/Off for the Built-in Photocell
The Profoto D4 uses two 6.3 mm (1/4”) “phono” synch sockets,
so your flash meter and camera can be connected
simultaneously without having to unplug one for the other.
Also, in situations where “hardwiring” is preferred over
white light slave or digital radio slaves, the second synch
outlet can be used to “Daisy Chain” the units together.
