INTRODUCTION
A mic splier provides the means to split the original signal from the on-stage microphone and send it to the
various systems, main PA, monitors or recording, so that each can get a clean, unaected signal directly from
the mic.
However, spling microphone signals is not as simple as just wiring the microphones to all the consoles. Issues
such as impedance loading, ground loops and phantom power can degrade the signal and introduce noise.
To solve these issues SPLIT100 uses high performance audio isolaon transformers to decouple the signal
passing through it and eliminate ground loops that cause hum and buzz in audio systems. The beauty of a
transformer is that there is no electrical connecon between the primary and the secondary. The signal is
‘transformed’ from electrical energy to magnec, then back to electrical, in eect a ‘magnec bridge’. This
provides two huge benets: with no electrical path, ground loops are eliminated and a tremendous reducon
in common-mode noise is possible.
SPLIT100 features two isolated mic level balanced output XLR male connectors and a DIRECT LINK XLR male
connector where to connect the mixer console capable of phantom power if you use a condenser mic that
require it. SPLIT100 does not require any external power such as phantom or baeries to work. Just plug and
play!
CONTROLS AND AUDIO CONNECTION
1. GND LIFT A - switch
Use the GND LIFT A switch to either connect the ground pin of INPUT and OUTPUT A or keep them completely
separated. Depending on the grounding of the connected devices linking or disconnecng will reduce hum and
buzz noises and prevent ground loops. NOTE: the GND are separated when the switch lever is up.
2. OUTPUT A - male XLR
This male XLR output connector is the rst balanced microphone level output of the splier galvanically
separated from the input, it is wired with pin-1 ground (or li), pin-2 hot and pin-3 cold.
3. OUTPUT B - male XLR
This male XLR output connector is the second balanced microphone level output of the splier galvanically
separated from the input, it is wired with pin-1 ground (or li), pin-2 hot and pin-3 cold.
4. GND LIFT B - switch
Use the GND LIFT B switch to either connect the ground pin of INPUT and OUTPUT B or keep them completely
separated. Depending on the grounding of the connected devices linking or disconnecng will reduce hum and
buzz noises and prevent ground loops. NOTE: the GND are separated when the switch lever is up.
5. LINK - male XLR
This male XLR output connector is directly connected at the input. NOTE: If you are using a condenser mic or
other source that requires the phantom power here is where you have to connect the mixer console capable
to supply the phantom power.
6. INPUT - female XLR
Connect the microphone or other source instrument to this input to split the signal. NOTE: the internal
audio transformers are
opmized for mic sources
but are also capable to
drive line signals that
doesn't exceed the 0dBu
level.
