The Main Interface The ‘Selection titles’ list presents track titles from your audio CD or a folder of your hard disk (you can choose in the ‘Media support changer’ window). • • • • Click on a track title to put it in pre-selection (for the lyrics or the sequencer for example) Double-click on a title to start listening it. You can also hit the spacebar on your keyboard. You can use the up and down arrows of your keyboard to move into the list.
Icons you’ll find in the main interface: Note: Windows that appear when you click on one of these icons (or when you use a keyboard shortcut) have their own integrated help messages. Please carefully read these help messages. Audio data extraction (‘Ripper’): Click this icon to extract audio files from the current audio CD. You be able to save audio files (WAV or MP3) that can be loaded directly from your PC without needing the original CD.
Extracting audio files using the ‘Ripper’ When you click on this icon the following view appears in the ‘Information’ window The text in this window shows you extraction options. Audio extraction digitally records the music from your audio CDs bit by bit. This means there’s no loss of quality and the recording you have on your PC is a carbon copy of the one from your CD. This feature can be very useful for you if your computer is too slow for MyVoice to run its effects in real-time.
Database updates (titles, albums, artists) : When you click on this icon the following options appears in the ‘Information’ window The text in this window shows you database options. MyVoice® has a database that lets you to view your tracks by name rather than just track number (Track 1, Track 2, etc). Not every CD is listed in the database, but if MyVoice doesn’t already know the track names you can input them yourself. (MyVoice uses the FreeDB server).
Media support changer : When you click on this icon, the following window appears in the ‘Information’ window The text in this window shows you media type options. This window is used when you want to use audio files (wav or mp3) rather an audio CD or if you have several CD drives. Using the ‘audio extraction module’ (see above) you can save your audio files to hard disk and have your very own music collection available on your PC.
Software and hardware settings : When you click on this icon, the following window appears in the ‘Information’ window This window has three tabs : ‘General’, ‘Microphone’ and ‘Audio and DirectX®’. • Under the ‘General’ Tab Option list from the ‘General’ tab Screen : • Use a colored background. • Change to screen resolution of 800x600 pixels for the MyVoice® window.
Software and hardware settings : Microphone settings • Under the ‘Microphone’ Tab MyVoice attempts to automatically select your microphone as the recording source and your speakers as the playback device. This means you can hear yourself when you are singing. You might need to alter the settings yourself, which can be done through your soundcards’s mixer window. Windows lets you select which audio source(s) will be active for recording and playback.
If you click on this window’s 'Options' menu and then 'Properties', you can show the mixer settings for your recording sources: (Note: these windows may look slightly different on your PC) • • To show these windows, you can also open the Start menu of Windows, click Run and enter “sndvol32” to show the playback mixer window or “sndvol32 /rec” for the recording window - note the space between sndvol32 and /rec. Do not type the quote marks.
If you don't hear yourself when you speak or sing in the microphone when you are using MyVoice: • Click on the Microphone tab sheet, and check first that the 'Recording source' and 'Levels' controls are enabled. Some audio cards are not directly accessible through Windows. Here is an example of one such setup: You will have in this case to choose your inputs / outputs in the mixer control panel shipped with your audio card. Controls are disabled.
Software and hardware settings : microphone gain level Staying on the ‘Microphone’ tab window, click on the microphone icon to check and change the gain level of your microphone. Every sound card’s amplification level is slightly different, so initially finding your microphone signal too loud or too quiet is not uncommon. Solve this problem by adjusting the gain that MyVoice applies to the signal received while recording in the sequencer.
Software and hardware settings : • Under the ‘Audio and DirectX®’ Tab This is the more technical part of the configuration window. Generally, you can use the default options selected when MyVoice has been installed. However, you may have to modify some parameters depending on your hardware configuration and the audio results.
Software and hardware settings : • Under the ‘Audio and DirectX®’ Tab: audio drivers selection When you are using the MyVoice 'built-in DirectX settings', you can choose the audio drivers that MyVoice will use to play back and record audio. Simply select the driver needed in the lists. Whenever possible try to select a DirectX® driver that exactly matches your audio card. When you are using a driver that is not compatible with DirectX®, MyVoice signals it with an alert message.

They are relevant only to the full screen mode and will be saved with the current lyrics file.
Generic notes and recommendations : MyVoice effect inactive : You can use MyVoice as a regular CD player. MyVoice effect active : Click on the MyVoice effect button and hide the vocals on CD tracks in real time. The vocals can be muted and, with tweaking, totally cancelled.
