Note: We recommend not storing effects on the c:\ drive, but on a different drive, possibly an external drive, in a separate directory for effect animations. This ensures you will still find your animations even if your c:\ drive has been formatted. To specify a path, click the folder icon. Below the Filename section, you can find the Format section. © proDAD, 2008 Tutorials Using Heroglyph titles in Adorage This tutorial focuses on using titles created in proDAD Heroglyph. Note: When creating a title in Heroglyph, please make sure you use the HD format 1920x1080 pixels. You configure this setting in the Videoformat dialogue box. Start proDAD Heroglyph. On the Input (1) tab, create a title (e.g. Windsurfen). In the navigation menu, select the item Design (2) to open the Edit design (3) dialogue box. Select a design (e.g.
© proDAD, 2008 Export the title in TIF format (as Alpha only). Adorage will then only use the text Windsurfen for the effect, everything else (background) will be transparent. Now click Start Export to generate the image file. Open Adorage. First choose an effect (e.g. Sports/Soccer/02). Select the Video sources A und B. When using Adorage within a video editing application, use the video clips in the timeline.
© proDAD, 2008 Once you have specified Videos A and B, open the Mixer dialogue box. Now import the new title image. In the Properties of the mask section, leave the setting Alpha file. Now click the folder icon and navigate to the path where the title image is stored. Once you have specified the path, the new title image is immediately shown in the preview panel.
© proDAD, 2008 As you can see in the preview, the title is not displayed as desired. Select the Invert graphic (1) checkbox to make the title background transparent. The image design specified in the Border color (2) section is now shown in the title text in the Preview (3).
© proDAD, 2008 The Border color section also lets you import images (either ready-made or created by you), which can be used here as a title image. Click the folder icon and select a suitable file (e.g. reflex1.jpg). The file is loaded and immediately integrated into the text.
© proDAD, 2008 Using the Motion button you can change the animation set for the title image at any time. In the Dynamic section, you could, for example, select the items Rotation and linear.
© proDAD, 2008 Note: You can also change the settings for the starting and ending positions, specifying either the same or different settings for starting position and ending position (using the parameters Rotation, Position and Size). Click OK to confirm your settings and close the Motion dialogue box. For additional settings options in the Motion dialogue box, click here. The Properties of the mask section also features a Motion button.
© proDAD, 2008 On the Starting position tab, move the blue object slightly to the left (Position) and slide the Size/Horizontal slide control to 40%. The title now has a new starting position and it is stretched horizontally. Now open the Ending position tab. Move the green object as shown (Position) and slide the Size/Horizontal slide control to 80% and the Size/Vertical control to 70%.
© proDAD, 2008 Click OK to confirm your settings and close the Motion dialogue box. Now check the animation preview. The motion path of the mask has now changed. Click OK to confirm your settings and close the Mixer dialogue box.
© proDAD, 2008 You have now integrated a title image created in Heroglyph (stored in TIF format with Alpha) in Adorage. You can export the animation using the Export Sequence button, or return to your video editing software. Customizing standard text This tutorial focuses on customizing standard text in effect templates.
© proDAD, 2008 Select an effect with integrated text from the templates (e.g. Various Motif Effects/Text FX/Thank you). You can immediately view the effect with the text in the preview panel. To edit the text, you need to open an image editing application. Create a file with text (e.g. a TIF file), making sure you use the Alpha-Key. In the Properties of the mask section of the Mixer (1) dialogue, import this file as an Alpha file (2). The new image is immediately shown in the preview.
© proDAD, 2008 The Invert graphic (1) checkbox lets you change the background of the Adorage.tif file. With the checkbox selected, the file you have selected in the Border color (2) section is shown in the background, and the text is transparent, i.e. Video A/B is visible. You can see this immediately in the Preview (3).
© proDAD, 2008 Now choose a new Border color. 1. Selecting a color In the Border color section, select the Color item from the drop-down list. Now click the Select color button (only visible with Color selected). This opens the Color dialogue box. Select a colour to fill the text. The text is shown in the Adorage preview in the font colour you have selected. The Border sharpness slide control lets you determine the intensity of the font colour (e.g.
© proDAD, 2008 2. Selecting a file In the Border color section, select the File item from the drop-down list. Now click the folder icon and import an animation (e.g. the clip background16.avi.) or any image you like. The selected clip is immediately integrated into the text and shown in the preview. The text surface is now animated. Note: You can also use your own video and image sources. Save them with a max. HD resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, in AVI (videos) or JPG or TIF (images) format.
© proDAD, 2008 Apply the settings in the Mixer dialogue box and return to the Adorage user interface. The effect is now shown in the Preview. Creating video effects with cross-fading This tutorial focuses on applying video effects with integrated cross-fading. Adorage provides some effect templates that offer an overlay effect (e.g. an aeroplane) plus a mask for cross-fading the effect. First select an effect from the list of effect templates (e.g.
© proDAD, 2008 Note: Now select the Video-Sources A and B. When working with Adorage in a video editing application, use the video clips from the timeline. For information about additional settings options in the Video A and Video B dialogue boxes, please refer to the relevant chapter. For this tutorial, please use the Adorage demo material. Now open the Mixer dialogue box, which is where you select a cross-fade file and edit it. In the Proceeding steps section, click the Mixer image (not the icon).
© proDAD, 2008 Leave the Threshold file mask unchanged. Click the folder icon to the right of the box below to import a suitable threshold file (e.g. kreis-strahl-grob.tif). During installation of Adorage, various files are stored, which are now available for selection. You can also create your own masks in TIF format and import them here. The preview of the cross-fade mask has now changed. You can now optimize the mask further, e.g. by changing the Border sharpness (to 60%).
© proDAD, 2008 In the Border color section, you can now select a new file to define the outline. Click the folder icon to the right of the box below to select a suitable file (e.g. background2.jpg). The change is immediately shown in the preview. Note: You can also create your own image files (e.g. in JPG format) and import them here. The Brightness of the border slide control lets you set the brightness of the cross-fade mask. Changing the setting from 87% (default) to 60% reduces the brightness.
© proDAD, 2008 You have now created a new cross-fade sequence in an Adorage video effect. This dialogue box also offers additional settings for the cross-fade mask, but this tutorial focused on integrating, exchanging and editing a mask for the cross-fade sequence within an effect. Click OK to close the Mixer dialogue box and return to the Adorage user interface. The new Mixer image is now shown in the Proceeding steps section.
© proDAD, 2008 If required, you can switch to the Overlay dialogue box to replace the aeroplane with a different image.
© proDAD, 2008 Using drag & drop to add images and clips This tutorial focuses on integrating animations (clips) and images by simply dragging & dropping them from the Windows Explorer. First select an effect from the list of effect templates (e.g. the effect Butterfly02 from the Various Motif Effects/Animals category). The effect is immediately shown in the Preview. Open the Windows Explorer and navigate to the folder where your file is stored.
© proDAD, 2008 Note: This is an even easier way of importing video clips and images to Adorage. You can also replace video clips and images in the Mixer and Overlay dialogue boxes using drag & drop. In the Overlay dialogue box, you can drag & drop a video clip (or image) directly onto the preview panel. Please note that it will replace the Overlay-graphic.
