312 is designed for long service
with minimum care. Ordinary common sense maint
e-
nance will keep it operating efficiently.
1. Treat the welding, ground, and control c
a-
bles with respect. Avoid sharp bends and kinks which
may break the cables. Don’t use the cables as a “tow
line” to move the cont
rol. Avoid damage or straining
the cables where they enter the gun or at the conne
c-
tors.
2. It is good practice to occasionally remove
the cover of the controller and clean with air and a
soft brush around the
components.
CAUTION
Be sure the controller is disconnected
from the power before removing the pro
-
tective cover.
3.
While the cover is removed, tighten all the
weld cable connections and make sure all the screws
on the capacitor terminals are t
orque to 30 inch
-
pounds.
