Keyed Gas Ball Valve
F or use w ith natural gas and LP gas only .
A lw ays follow A LL local building and plumbing codes during installation.
Use only black gas pipe, and secure piping ev ery fiv e feet or less.
Remov e any debris from male and female threads before connecting.
A lw ays use a pipe joint compound or P.T.F .E. pipe thread tape [that is approv ed for use w ith
natural or LP gases] on all connections to seal threads.
Keyed Gas Valve Installation Instructions
1. Turn off the gas line to the firebox or, if necessary , the main gas line.
2. Determine w hich side of the firebox the v alv e w ill be installed. D rill a 1¼" hole for the flange and
v alv e. Thread the v alv e into the flange from below the floor or behind the w all
3. Run ½" RIGID gas pipe from the v alv e, and extend approximately 3½" into the firebox if coming
from the side, or 1½" if coming from below . C ap off firebox stub w ith threaded ½" cap.
4. Run ½" gas pipe from the gas source to a ½" lev er-ty pe ball v alv e. (This v alv e is not the same as
a HearthMaster v alv e.)
5. Run ½" gas pipe from the lev er-ty pe ball v alv e to a ½" gas pipe union.
6. Run ½" gas pipe from the HearthMaster v alv e to the union, and thread union together. Test all
new connections w ith a liquid leak detector.
