LEGACY LINE MATRIX RIBBON
Given some recent improvements and design
changes in our ribbon reversing construction
(ball-shot attachment), some of the oldest
Printronix Printer Models may not reverse
direction properly when coming to the end
of the spool.
Indeed, the ribbon reversing circuitry in these
models may not be sensitive enough to reliably
reverse the new ribbons as they reach the end.
To ensure trouble free operation when running
the following Legacy Printer Models:

This ribbon uses a more traditional ribbon leader /
reversing signal design that is proven to work on all
of the models listed to the left and is suitable for
text, barcode, and OCR applications.
The vast majority of these older models will work
with the ball-shot attachment ribbons. However, each
printer varies slightly in terms of its sensitivity to the
ribbon reversal signal and some of the least sensitive
will fall below the requirements of the new ribbons.
The Printronix printer models P5000, P4280 and
P9212 all have later generation ribbon reversing
detection circuitry that will work properly with the
ball-shot attachment ribbons. Users of these
products need to simply keep ordering their existing
ribbon part numbers.
