Steering cable
Volvo Penta steering cables are high quality products designed to pro-
vide optimum efficient performance, i.e., a minimum of physical effort
with a minimum of play.

This steering cable attachment is used to attach the steering cable on
DP-E drives without power steering.

The Boat Trim System (BTS) with its patented interceptor
technology gives you perfect control over pitch and heel with
rapid response, quicker onto plane, lower fuel consumption
and a more comfortable ride. Even better, add the Automatic
Boat Trim option which takes over the task of keeping the
boat correctly trimmed - automatically!
This trim system is a perfect match for almost all planing boats in the
range of 17 to 40+ feet. Outboard, sterndrive or inboard does not mat-
ter, it's compact design make for an easy installation. The kits come
with a comprehensive installation guide which mean upgrading from
conventional trim tabs is a small job.

* Note! For each extra helm station (max 4 helm stations possible), add one control panel (A), one 6-pole Y-cable (C) and one 6-pole extension cable (D).
** Note! If the boat does not have a separate fuse box accessible, Volvo Penta resettable 8A breaker may be used. 966689 is not ignition proof and must therefore not
be used in gasoline engine rooms.
*** Note! For the installation one 6-pole Y-cable (C) is always needed. Depending on installation type, there might be a need for a 6-pole extension cable (D).
The 6-pole cable on the Attitude control unit (H) is approx. 25 cm.

Mechanical Steering
The mechanical steering helms are available in four models, all using
a Planetary Gear Design with three satellite gears that rotate on their
axis and at the same time rotate around the central helm axis. This
design provides an optimum reduction ratio with a minimum of physi-
cal effort, increased efficiency and less torque feedback compared to
cheaper single pinion gear helms.
No feedback helms
A special patented device allows the helm shaft to lock until turned
by the driver, maintaining the boat direction and neutralizing the feed-
back loads on the steering cable. The mechanism is engaged when the
driver applies pressure on the wheel to change direction of the boat.
