Do not point the lopper saw in the direction of people or pets. Maintain tool with care. Keep the lopper saw clean for best and safest performance. Follow instructions for proper maintenance. ELECTRICAL INFORMATION Guidelines for using extension cords Make sure your extension cord is in good condition. When using an extension cord, be sure to use one heavy enough to carry the current your product will draw. An undersized cord will cause a drop in line voltage resulting in loss of power and overheating. The table below shows the correct size to be used according to cord length and nameplate ampere rating. If in doubt, use the next heavier gauge. The smaller the gauge number, the heavier the cord.
Some of the following symbols may be used on this product. Please study them and learn their meaning. Proper interpretation of these symbols will allow you to operate the product better and safer. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS WARNING: Read and thoroughly understand all instructions and safety information before operating this lopper saw. Failure to do so may cause serious injury or death. 2. Insert loop portion of extension cord through opening in the bottom of the rear handle and place over cord retainer. 3. Slowly pull loop against cord retainer until the slack is removed. 4. Plug product into extension cord. NOTE: Failure to remove all excess cord slack from extension cord retainer could result in plug loosening from receptacle. Fig. 4 STARTING AND STOPPING See fig. 4 To start the motor: Connect the lopper to power supply.
• • • • • • • • • • • • To prevent electrocution, do not operate within 50 ft. of overhead electrical lines. Keep bystanders and pets at least 50 ft. away. When felling, do not attempt to fell a tree that has a diameter larger than 4 in., or that is taller than you are. Plan the cut carefully. Be aware of the direction in which the tree or branch will fall. Branches may fall in unexpected directions. Do not stand directly under the branch being cut. Remove long branches in several stages.
WARNING: When servicing, use only identical replacement parts. Use of any other parts could create a hazard or cause product damage. GENERAL MAINTENANCE Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Most plastics are susceptible to damage from various types of commercial solvents and may be damaged by their use. Use clean clothes to remove dirt, dust, oil, grease, etc. WARNING: Do not at any time let brake fluids, gasoline, petroleum-based products, penetrating oils, etc.
6. 7. Retighten the chain cover bolt securely. Return the lower jaw to the closed position by pulling back on the front handle and allowing the handle to move all the way forward. NOTE: New chain tends to stretch; check chain tension Fig. 11 frequently and tension as required. NOTICE: Chain tensioned while warm, can be too tight upon cooling. Check the “ cold tension” before next use. REPLACING THE BAR AND CHAIN See fig.
9. While holding the chain in position on the bar, reinsert the bar and chain through the opening between the jaws and place the loop around the sprocket. Fig. 14 10. Fit the bar flush against the mounting surface so that the bar stud is in the long slot of the bar. WARNING: When placing the bar on the bar studs, ensure that the chain tensioning pin is in the chain tension pin hole.
Feathering or burring of the bar rails is a normal process of bar wear. Such faults should be smoothed with a file as soon as they occur. A bar with any of the following faults should be replaced. Wear inside the bar rails which permits the chain to lay over sideways. Bent guide bar. Cracked or broken rails. Spread rails. Lubricate guide bars with a sprocket at their tip weekly. Using a grease syringe, lubricate weekly in the lubricating hole.
