GENERAL SAFETY PROCEDURES Safety is a combination of common sense, staying alert, and knowing how your chain saw works. SAVE THESE SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS. WARNING: Do not operate this unit until you read this instruction manual for safety, operation and maintenance instructions. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious personal injury. • Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust.
• Remove or disconnect battery before servicing, cleaning or removing material from the gardening appliance. • Use only POWER SMART battery (Model#PS76018B) • Store idle appliances - When not in use, chain saw should be stored indoors in a dry, locked place out of the reach of children. • Do not dispose of the batteries in a fire. The cell may explode. Check with local codes for possible special disposal instructions. • Do not open or mutilate the batteries.
CHILD SAFETY Tragic accidents can occur if the operator is not aware of the presence of children. • • • • • Keep children out of the working area and under the watchful care of a responsible adult. Do not allow children under the age of 14 to operate this trimmer. Children who are 14 years of age and older must read and understand the operating instructions and safety rules in this manual, and must be trained and supervised by a parent.
• • • • • • Use extreme caution when cutting small-sized brush and saplings because slender material may catch the saw chain and be whipped toward you or pull you off balance. When cutting a limb that is under tension, be alert for spring back so that you will not be struck when the tension in the wood fibers is released. To avoid accidental starting, never carry plugged in product with finger on switch. Be sure switch is off when plugging in. Maintain product with care.

WARNING: Follow these instructions in order to avoid injury and to reduce the risk of electric shock or fire: • • • Replace the battery pack or the charger immediately if the battery case or charger cord is damaged. Verify that the battery pack is removed before inspecting, adjusting, or performing maintenance on any part of the string trimmer. Read, understand, and follow the instructions. CUTTING TIPS WARNING: If bar and chain become jammed, stop the motor, allow the chain to stop, and disconnect the plug from the power source before attempting to remove the obstruction. Failure to follow these steps could result in accidental starting of the lopper and cause serious personal injury. • • • • • • • • • • Cut only wood or materials made from wood, do not cut sheet metal, plastics, masonry, or non-wood building materials. Never allow children to operate the chain saw.
CHAIN TENSION WARNING: To avoid possible serious injury, never touch or adjust the chain while the motor is running. The saw chain is very sharp; always wear protective gloves when performing maintenance to the chain. 1. Stop the motor and remove the battery pack before adjusting the chain tension. 2. Loosen the side cover knob. 3. Turn the chain-tensioning knob clockwise to tension the chain. See the section: "REPLACING THE BAR AND CHAIN" in this manual for additional information.
4. Install the saw chain in the guide slot on the guide bar (see fig.7). The chain must be so fitted over the guide bar that the cutting edges of the cutters face in the direction that the chain runs(see fig.8). Fig.8 Fig.7 5. Grasp the guide bar and the saw chain so that the centre hole of the disk wheel is inserted into the screw stud, and lop the saw chain onto the sprocket (see fig.9). 6. Cover the side cover and tight the side cover lock knob properly but do not make it too tight. 7.
GUIDE BAR MAINTENANCE When the guide bar shows signs of wear, reverse it on the saw to distribute the wear for maximum bar life. The bar should be cleaned every day of use and checked for wear and damage. Feathering or burring of the bar rails is a normal process of bar wear. Such faults should be smoothed with a file as soon as they occur. A bar with any of the following faults should be replaced. Wear inside the bar rails which permits the chain to lay over sideways. Bent guide bar.
ENVIRONMENTALLY SAFE BATTERY DISPOSAL The batteries used in this chain saw's battery pack contain the following toxic and corrosive material: LITHIUM-ION. WARNING: Toxic materials must be disposed of in a specified manner in order to prevent contamination of the environment. Before disposing of damaged or worn out Lithium-Ion battery packs, contact your local waste disposal agency for information and specific instructions.
TROUBLESHOOTING The following form lists the common operating system with problem and solutions. Please read the form carefully and follow it.
