AUGER BELT AND RELATED COMPONENT INSPECTION
When replacing your snow blower auger belt, it is important to determine the cause of the failure (if
applicable) and take corrective action to avoid repeated failure.
Inspect the belt:
Correct size and type Fraying or peeling apart
Missing pieces • Cracks and tears
Burning • Uneven wear patterns
General damage Foreign material on belt, oil, grease, dirt etc.
Inspect the auger pulleys:
Broken sheave or hub
Loose or missing mounting bolts
Bent or "out-of-round" condition (pulley does not spin true)
Misaligned pulleys
Foreign material on pulleys, grease, dirt, etc.
Misaligned tension pulley
Tension pulley loose or damaged
Tension pulley and arm assembly operation
Does the tension arm move freely both engaged and disengaged directions without binding?
Misaligned tension pulley, the pulley should move parallel to the belt centered to the belt
Check return spring operation and tension
TROUBLESHOOTING

The snow thrower does
not start.
The battery is not charged.
Charge the battery by following the
procedures in the battery and charger
manual.
The switch is defective
Have the switch replaced by an
authorized service center.
Battery is too cold.
Remove battery from snow thrower.
Place battery on charger and allow to
charge for 10 minutes. Remove from
charger and install in Snow thrower for
use.
The battery is not attached to
the motor.
Check the connection between the motor
connector and the battery.
Battery may require service or
replacement.

or replace battery.
The motor is on, but
the impeller does not
turn.
The belt is damaged.
Replace the belt (see the section entitled
Inspecting/Replacing the Drive Belt).
