1. Set unit on a firm, level surface.
2. Plac
e a suitable container under oil drain plug.
3. Close fuel valve.
4. Remove oil fill cap/dipstick.
5. Remove oil drain plug. If possible, tilt crankcase
slightly to help drain oil. Dispose of used oil accord-
ing to local, state, or national codes.
6. Install oil drain plug.
7. Fill with recommended oil. See Engine Fluid
Requirements and Adding Engine Oil.
8. Install oil fill cap/dipstick and hand-tighten.
Maintaining Spark Plug
Proceed as follows to maintain or replace the spark plug:
1. See Figure 4-1. Disconnect spark plug cap (A)
from spark plug. Clean out debris or dirt from sur-

Figure 4-1. Spark Plug Cap Location
2. Remove spark plug.
3. Inspect spark plug. If electrode is oily, clean it with
a clean, dry rag. If electrode has deposits on it, pol-
ish it using emery paper. If white insulator is
cracked or chipped, replace with LG F6TC spark
plug or acceptable equivalent.
4. If installing a new spark plug, adjust spark plug gap
to 0.028 in (0.71 mm). Do not pry against the elec-
trode, the spark plug could be damaged.
5. Install cleaned spark plug or new spark plug. Fin-
ger-tighten until gasket contacts cylinder head,
then tighten approximately one-half to two-thirds
turn more.
NOTE: Tighten spark plug correctly. If loose, spark plug
will cause overheating. If overtightened, engine block
threads will be damaged.
