Maintenance
Regular maintenance will improve performance and
extend engine/equipment life. Regular maintenance,
replacement or repair of the emissions control devices
and systems may be performed by any repair shop or
person of the owner’s choosing. However, to obtain emis-
sions control warranty service free of charge, the work
must be performed by an Independent Authorized Ser-
vice Dealer (IASD). See the emissions warranty.
Maintenance Schedule

Hot Surfaces. When operating machine, do not
touch hot surfaces. Keep machine away from
combustibles during use. Hot surfaces could
result in severe burns or fire.
Risk of injury. Do not operate or service this machine
if not fully alert. Fatigue can impair the ability to
operate or service this equipment and could result in
death or serious injury.

Personal injury. Before performing any maintenance procedure
or inspection, stop the engine, and allow all parts to cool.
Disconnect spark plug wire and keep spark plug wire away
from spark plug. Failure to do so could result in serious injury.

Check engine oil level
Inspect general equipment condition
Inspect engine exterior and cooling fins
Inspect knife for damage and sharpness
Inspect air filter -- clean or replace as needed
Check tire pressure
Inspect knife attachment screws
Inspect hammer/spacers for wear -- reverse or replace as needed
Change engine oil
