Operation
7. Allow engine to run for several seconds. Move
choke lever slowly to RUN.
NOTE: Moving choke lever too quickly can stall the
engine.
8. Allow engine to run at no load for five minutes so
engine can stabilize.
9. Set throttle to RUN for chipping and shredding.
Stopping the Unit
To stop engine in an emergency situation, set engine
switch to OFF.
Proceed as follows to stop unit under normal conditions:
1. Set throttle lever to SLOW (turtle).
2. Set engine switch to OFF.
3. Close fuel valve.
Operating Zone
• See Figure 3-2. Always operate unit from the
appropriate operator zone (A).
• Always stop engine when leaving operating zone
or when moving the machine.
NOTE: When viewed from chipper chute side the fly-
wheel turns in a clockwise direction.
NOTE: Never assume you know where the chipper knife
is. You can never know where the chipper knife is.

Operating Tips

CAUTION
Equipment damage. Never stop the engine by moving
throttle control lever to CHOKE. Doing so could result
in engine damage.

DANGER
Personal injury. NEVER attempt to dislodge debris from
discharge chute or hopper while unit is running. The
cutting blades can start again at any moment, which will
result in death, serious injury, or equipment damage.

Personal injury. NEVER insert body parts or metal
objects in the discharge chute or hopper for any reason
while the unit is running. Doing so will result in death,
serious injury, property or equipment damage.

Flying objects. Debris travels outward at a high
speed. Stand clear of the discharge chute while
unit is running. Failure to do so will result in
death or serious injury.

Personal injury. Do not operate the unit with the
hopper or discharge chute removed. Doing so could
cause death, serious injury, property or equipment
damage.

Equipment damage. Do not overload unit or attempt
to chip/shred material beyond the manufacturer’s
recommendation. Doing so could result in death,
severe injury, or equipment damage.

materials straight down into the hopper with arms parallel to
