Engine won't start
No fuel.
Add fuel.
Choke not in the START position.
Turn choke to the START
position.
Low quality or old gasoline.
Use fresh unleaded gasoline.
Dirty fuel passageways.
Clean out passageways using
fuel additive. Heavy deposits
may require further cleaning.
Spark plug cap not connected
securely.
Connect spark plug cap
properly.
Spark plug fouled.
Remove spark plug.
Clean/replace as recommended
in engine manual.
No compressions. Problems after
long storage periods.
Lubricate the cylinder, pour
tablespoon of oil into spark plug
hole. Crank engine a few times
and try to start again.
Low engine oil.
Add engine oil to proper level.
Engine exhaust is black
Dirty air filter.
Replace air filter.
Choke closed.
Open choke.
Engine stops suddenly
Fuel tank empty or using old or
low quality gasoline.
Add fuel tank with fresh
unleaded gasoline.
Low oil shut-down.
Fill engine oil to proper level.
Disconnected or improperly
connected spark plug cap.
Secure spark plug cap.
Engine runs but no material is
discharged
Discharge chute clogged.
Clean out debris.
Engine not running at full speed.
Set throttle control to FAST if
equipped.
Vacuum not working
Hose not attached properly.
Clear blockage or replace.
Engine not running at full RPM.
