Product Introduction Thank you for purchasing a Power Soak Advanced Wash Insert (AWI). Your AWI will benefit you in numerous ways: • Wares will be treated very gently. • Rotation of difficult to move items such as wire baskets and half sheet pans will be improved. • Wares will be cleaner while requiring less time in the Power Soak. • Ware washing will be very quiet. • The need for touch up washing will decrease and employee morale will increase. • Operator ergonomics are improved.
Installation 1. Tank Bottom Liner Begin by placing the tank bottom liner into the bottom of the wash tank. Ensure the word “FRONT” (engraved into each liner) is face-up, and towards the front of the wash tank. The liner will fold upwards at the front and rear, so that a few inches of the front and rear walls are covered. If your system requires more than one liner, place all of them into the wash tank, side by side. A small gap will remain between each liner.
2. Rib Sets Next identify the end of the wash tank you would prefer to use as the utensil washing region. In Power Soak Generation 4 units, this will be the end closest to the pump. You will find a large space between the first and second jets on these units. The pump is at the left end of the wash tank on some models and at the right end on others. On Generation 3 Power Soaks, either end is acceptable as a utensil washing region.
Next, place a wide rear rib section (either five or seven ribs wide) in the opposite corner of the wash tank. Wide rear rib section Place additional wide rear rib sections until only a small gap is left between the wide rear ribs sections and narrow rear rib section.
Wide rear rib section Narrow rear rib section Small gap Next place wide front rib sections in the wash tank, again leaving a small gap at the end adjacent to the narrow rib section.
Small gap Narrow front rib section Wide front rib section All rib sections are now in place. 3. Flexible Tank Divider Insert the flexible tank divider in the small gap between rib sections. To change the location of the flexible tank divider, move the rib sections around to shift the small gap between rib sections and drop the flexible tank divider into the new gap.
4. Flow Guide Next, install the narrow flow guide in the utensil area. The next few pictures show the placement of the flow guides. Do not attempt to install the flow guides until the flexible tank divider is in place. Place the flow guide against the top of the rear rib section adjacent to the "hooks". Please note that any orientation of the flow guide will work—it is reversible both top to bottom and end to end.
Push down against the upper edge of the flow guide nearest you. As you do this, the flow guide will slide along the tops of the ribs until the notches of the flow guide engage the hooks. Hooks and notches are now engaged Flow guide Once the rear hooks and rear notches are engaged, the front hooks and notches must also be engaged.
While pushing down on the upper edge of the flow guide, start to apply pressure toward the rear also until the upper edge of the flow guide is below the hooks of the front rib section.
Apply pressure until flow guide snaps into place Now release the pieces and let the notches engage the hooks.
Repeat this process for all the other flow guides. Remember that flow guides are consumable normal wear components with a finite life. In addition to wear from the constant abrasion of wares being cleaned, flow guides will grow in length over time. This growth is compensated for by the array of slots at the bottoms of the notches which retain the flow guides.
5. Wave Guide Next, install the wave guide. Place the wave guide on top of the front ribs sets, so that the pins point up, and the two (or three) flanges slide between the front rib sets and the front and side walls of the wash tank. If your system has a two piece wave guide install both halves as described above.
The AWI is now fully assembled. To disassemble the AWI, reverse this process.

Maintenance Cleaning AWI components may need to be cleaned from time to time. Using a degreasing detergent, lightly rub the components with a non abrasive washing pad or brush. Do not use harsh solvents as they might damage the components. Rinsing Rinse all parts with clean warm water.
Sanitizing The AWI sections should be sanitized by immersion in the sanitizing sink of the Power Soak. Check with your chemical provider and your local health department to know what the requirements are for your application. Drying Place all parts in the wash tank and allow them to air dry.
Tank Spray Out There may be times during a water change that you wish to rinse away any debris under the flow guide. To do this, remove one or more flow guides. A flow guide can be removed by pushing down against its upper edge then let the flow guide move forward and out from under the hooks. Once the flow guide notches have been disengaged from the front rib hooks, push the upper edge of the flow guide slightly rearward until it is clear of the hooks.
When the ribs are exposed, the spaces between the ribs can be rinsed out.
As previously mentioned, the flow guides are reversible both top to bottom and end to end. This provides four times the wear surface life. As the flow guide is used, it will take on the curved shape of the ribs. This is normal, and there is no harm in flexing the flow guide so that it curves the opposite direction. In this way, the maximum service life of the flow guide can be realized. AWI Durability The Power Soak AWI system has proven to be extremely durable.
