cations for the chain you are using Improper
hook angle will increasethe chance of kick-
back which can resultinserious injury.
4-. Check and Iower depth gauges•
• Place gauge tool on cutter.
• If the depth gauge is higher than the
depth gauge tool, file _level to the top of
the depth gauge tool.
• Maintain rounded front corner of
depth gauge with a flat file
NOTE: The very top of the depth
gauge should be fiat with the front
half rounded off with a flat file.

CARBURETOR ADJUSTMENT
_ WARNING: The chain will be moving
during most of this procedure. Wear your
protective equipment and observe all safety
precautions. The chain must not move at idle
speed.
The carburetor has been carefully set at the
factory Adjustments may be necessary if
you notice any of the following conditions:
• Chain moves at idle See IDLE SPEED-T
adjusting procedure•
• Saw wiil not idle See iDLE SPEED-T ad-
justing procedure.
Idle Speed-T
Altow engine to idle. if the chain moves, idle is
too fast. ff the engine stalls, idle is too stow Ad-
just speed unti} engine runs without chain
movement (idle too fast) or stalling (idle too
slow)• The idle speed screw is located in the
area above the primer bulb and is labeled T
• Turn idle screw (T) clockwise to increase
engine speed•
• Turn idle screw (T} counterclockwise to
decrease engine speed•

ADiWAt-ININLi: Perform the foilowing
steps after each use:
• Allow the engine to cool, and secure the
unit before storing or transporting
• Store chain saw and fuel in a weII venti-
lated area where fuel vapors cannot reach
sparks or open flames from water heaters,
electric motors or switches, furnaces, etc.
• Store chain saw with eli guards in place
and position chain saw so that any sharp
object cannot accidentally cause injury.
• Store chain saw well out of the reach of
children•
SEASONAL STORAGE
Prepare your unit for storage at the end of the
season or if it will not be used for 30 days or
more.
If your chain saw is to be stored for a period
of time:
• Clean saw thoroughly before storage•
• Store in a clean dry area•
• Ughtly oil externaI metal surfaces and
guide bar.
• Oil the chain and wrap it in heavy paper or
cloth.
FUEL SYSTEM
Under FUELING ENGINE in the OPERA-
TIQN section of this manual, see message
labeled iMPORTANT regarding the use of
gasohol in your chain saw.
Fuel stabilizer is an acceptable alternative in
minimizing the formation of fuel gum depos-
its dudng storage Add stabilizer to the gaso-
line in the fuel tank or fue} storage container
FolIow the mix instructions found on stabiliz-
er containers Run engine at least 5 minutes
after adding stabilizer.
Poulan/WEED EATER 40:1,2-cycte engine
oil (air cooled) is blended with fuel stabilizer.
if you do not use this oil, you can add a fuel
stabiiizer to your fuel tank
