Tic Control Center Input and motor settings, Motor box, Current limit
This setting determines how much current the Tic’s motor driver will attempt to generate in the stepper
motor coils. For more information about the current limit, see Section 4.3.
The resolution of the Tic’s current limit setting varies over its allowed range. Between 0 mA and
1024 mA, the resolution is 32 mA, meaning that the achievable current limits are multiples of 32 mA.
Between 1024 mA and 2048 mA, the resolution is 64 mA, meaning that the achievable current limits
are multiples of 64 mA. Above 2048 mA, the resolution is 128 mA, meaning that the achievable current
limits are multiples of 128 mA. The current limit is always specified in units of 32 mA. The Tic does not
change this number, but the actual current limit that the Tic sets on its motor driver is rounded down to
the nearest achievable current limit, if necessary.
Note that this setting just sets the default current limit, and it can be temporarily overridden using the
“Set current limit” command.
