Step 3: Carefully extend the lampshade (4) until it is round like a ball.
Step 4: Put the two lugs of the metal clamp onto the two wire openings on the lampshade.
Attach the light by its suspension mount (1). Also refer to the instructions in chapter
“Installation location”.
Installation location
Install the product at a location with good light conditions in order for the solar module to
charge the rechargeable battery during daytime. Make sure that the solar module is not
covered or shaded, i.e. by trees or buildings.
The more sunlight is captured by the solar module, the fuller the rechargeable battery will be
charged. Do not install the product in the direct proximity to other light sources such as yard
or street lights, otherwise the product will not switch on automatically at nightfall.
Important notes
The power of the rechargeable battery varies by season and depends on the period and
intensity of the captured sunlight. During extended periods of weather without sufcient
sunlight (especially in winter), it is possible that the rechargeable battery's charge state is
sufcient to light the product for a brief time only. This is because the rechargeable battery
charges less energy during the day than the lights use at night, which inevitably shortens
light "ON" time. This can discharge the rechargeable battery completely over time and thus
damage it. For that reason, turn off the solar decorative light in time (switch at OFF position).
Keep the solar module clean. Dust and dirt reduce the performance of the solar module, as
they cause a decline in the charging current for the rechargeable battery.
Cold temperatures adversely affect the lifetime of the rechargeable battery (reduced
illumination time of the LED at night). In order to ensure long, error-free operation, we
recommend storing the product at a dry, warm location during winter (or when not using the
product for a longer period of time). To do so, turn off the product (switch at OFF position).
You may remove the rechargeable battery before storing the product and charge it with a
suitable charger. Observe all relevant information provided in these operating instructions
regarding removing or replacing the rechargeable battery.
Removing/inserting the rechargeable battery
When replacing the rechargeable battery, make sure no moisture enters the lighting
unit.
Replace the rechargeable battery, when the illumination power starts to reduce or fails after
short operation even if the rechargeable battery was sufciently charged during daytime.
Remove the metal clamp.
Place the solar decorative light on a soft surface upside down with the solar module facing
downwards.
The rechargeable battery compartment is located inside the lighting unit. Loosen the screws
on the bottom of the lighting unit using a suitable crosshead screwdriver. Open the lighting
unit.
Remove the battery from the compartment; keep the correct alignment in mind (the side of
the spring contact is the negative terminal/-).
Replace the empty/defective battery by an identical battery of same type and capacity
(see “Technical data”). When inserting the rechargeable battery, observe correct polarity
(positive/+ and negative/-).
Assemble the light in reverse order.
Cleaning and care
Do not use any aggressive cleaning agents, rubbing alcohol or other chemical solutions as
they can cause damage (discoloration) to the housing and malfunctioning.
Never point a water jet (e.g. of a high-pressure cleaning device) at the solar decorative light,
as such could damage the seals.
Use a clean, soft and dry cloth for cleaning. For more stubborn dirt, slightly moisten the cloth
with a little lukewarm water.
Do not apply too much pressure on the solar module, as that could cause damage.
Regularly remove dust from the solar module, as otherwise the charging current will be
reduced.
Disposal
a) Product
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the
household waste. At the end of its service life, dispose of the product in accordance
with applicable regulatory guidelines.
Remove any inserted rechargeable battery and dispose of it separately from the
product.
b) Rechargeable batteries
As the end user, you are legally bound to return all used rechargeable batteries;
disposing of used rechargeable batteries with household waste is prohibited.
Contaminated rechargeable batteries are labelled with this symbol to indicate that
disposal in the domestic waste is forbidden. The designations for the heavy metals
involved are: Cd=cadmium, Hg=mercury, Pb=lead (the label is located on the
rechargeable batteries, i.e. under the trash can symbol depicted on the left).
You can dispose of your used rechargeable batteries free of charge at collection points in your
community, at our stores and everywhere rechargeable batteries are sold!
You thus fulll your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
