Can I build the house on a crawl space or basement?
Yes, you can, you will generally require a flooring system. You will need to contact us beforehand so
we can make the flooring system to suit. For example, our floors are open webbed joists. This may
be of interest to you as the owner as it allows you to run services in that webbed area (for a
crawlspace). We would need to do the layout for what you require.
Both steel and wood are strong materials, yet steel is less vulnerable to damage due to weather or
bugs. Weather and moisture can cause wood to mould, rot and crack. Furthermore, steel does not
expand or shrink over time or with exposure to moisture.
What is an advantage of a flooring system?
In areas which have snow, you can run you heating and other plumbing etc in the flooring system as
they are generally a minimum of 12 inches wide (height width) depending on the model and house
load
Your flooring system becomes your base to the house and you can build it on stilts type foundation,
some customers raise it high enough to build a carport underneath and extra living space (if they
close the carport space in).
