4.8.1.1 Global Configuration
Device Management > SNMP > Global Configuration page is used to enable SNMPv3 service for all management clients (i.e.,
versions 1, 2c, 3), and to enable trap messages.
Agent Status Enables SNMP on the switch. (Default: Enabled)
Invalid Community Authentication Trap
Issues a notification message to specified IP trap managers whenever an invalid
community string is submitted during the SNMP access authentication process. (Default: Enabled)
4.8.1.2 Community
Device Management > SNMP > Community page is used to configure up to five community strings authorized for management
access by clients using SNMP v1 and v2c. For security reasons, you should consider removing the default strings.
Community String A community string that acts like a password and permits access to the SNMP protocol.
Range: 1-32 characters, case sensitive Default strings: “public” (Read-Only), “private” (Read/Write)
Access Mode Specifies the access rights for the community string:
Read-Only Authorized management stations are only able to retrieve MIB objects.
Read/Write Authorized management stations are able to both retrieve and modify MIB objects.
