Water softener (= dishwasher salt) is added to a running programme by the
appliance automatically. When and how much water softener the appliance adds
to a running programme depends on the individually set water softener level
(H 1 - H 6); see table below.

Each programme run with a water softener supply consumes an additional 2.0
litres of water, the energy consumption increases by 0.02 kWh and the respective
programme duration is extended by 4 minutes.
4.1.3 Setting of the water softener consumption
❖ It is required to set the proper amount of the water softener based on the water
hardness range to optimise and customise the water softener consumption.
❖ You can set the consumption of water softener from H 1 to H 6. Water softener
is not required when the value H 1 is set.
Six water softener consumption levels can be selected. The water softener
consumption level should always be set according to the water hardness of
your region. We recommend setting the level relevant to the table of the water
hardness range above (s. chapter 4.1.2 WATER HARDNESS LEVELS / WATER
SOFTENER CONSUMPTION).
