Understanding
“cool Down” Times

and the range is still on
When the Signal Sounds
and the Range has Shut Off
If the SmartRange pre-alarm signal has
sounded/is sounding and the user
DOES NOT press the Heat Sensor cover
the range will automatically shut off. If
the range has been shut off, reset the
range by (i) turning all range knobs to
the off position, and (ii) pressing the
Heat Sensor cHeat Sensor cover once. This should
reset the range and allow it to be used
again normally.
If SmartRange signals during normal,
attended cooking, press the Heat Sensor
cover once. Pressing the Heat Sensor
cover during a pre-alarm signal (a short
beep every few seconds) stops the
alarm and prevents the range from being
shut off. Over time, SmartRange
gradually lea
gradually learns different cooking styles
and adjusts its sensitivity automatically.

SmartRange is designed to help prevent
cooking res in normal and abnormal
cooking situations. Depending on the
circumstance, restoring cooking function
to a range that has been shut off at the
Control Unit may require a ‘cool down’
period.
Normal Cooking Event Shut-Off
If SmartRange has shut-off the Range
and the cooking activity was normal, for
example frying food in a pan or boiling
water in a pot, follow these simple
steps to restore cooking functions:
i) Turn the knob(s) or dial(s) on the
range to the “off” position.
ii)ii) Press the Heat Sensor cover once.
(The Control Unit – which the range is
plugged into – will make a clicking
sound.)
iii) SmartRange has been reset and the
range will again function normally.
iv) Cooking can begin again.
