I TROUBLESHOOTING
Incorrect operations are often mistaken for trouble and malfunctions. If you think that there is something wrong with this component, check the
points below. Sometimes the trouble may lie in another component. Investigate the other components and electrical appliances being used.
If the trouble cannot be rectified even after exercising the checks listed below, ask your nearest PIONEER authorized service center or your dealer to
carry out repair work.

Power does not come on even • Power cord is disconnected. • Connect cord securely.

• The SPEAKERS button is OFF.
• Station has not been tuned in to correct
frequency.
• Antenna has not been connected or has
become disconnected.
FM reception
• Accessory antenna remains bundled up or it is
not pointing in right direction.
• Weak broadcasting station signals.
• Consult pages 7--10 and perform connections
correctly.
• Press the MUTING button to cancel the MUTING
effect.
• Raise volume.
AM reception
• AM loop antenna is not pointing in the right
direction.
• Weak broadcasting station signals.
• Noise being picked up from this unit and other
equipment (especially electrical appliances
using motors or fluorescent lights).
• Input signals are not strong enough.
• TV antenna is not connected to VCR, or
connections are faulty.
• You are attempting to watch a TV source using
a VCR with copy system connections.
In general, when copy system connections are
made, the VCR's IV tuner function ceases to
operate. For details, consult the operating
instructions for your VCR.
• Connect wires to terminals securely.
• Connect input cords securely.
• Press the button again to the OFF position.
• Switch the SPEAKERS button ON.
• Tune in the station correctly.
• Connect the antenna securely.
• Stretch both ends of antenna taut and locate
direction yielding optimum reception.
• Replace accessory antenna with outdoor FM
antenna.
• Change the direction of AM loop antenna and
find a position where reception is improved.
• Erect outdoor AM antenna or connect ground
wire.
• Stop using appliances generating noise or
remove them from vicinity of the stereo
equipment.
• Separate the loop antenna from the unit by
some distance.
• (FM) If the supplied simple antenna is being
used, change to an outdoor antenna.
• Consult the VCR's operating instructions, and
connect antenna correctly.
• Disconnect the copy system connection (TV
tuner function will operate).
