Section 01 Before You Start About this unit The tuner frequencies on this unit are allocated for use in Western Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Oceania. Use in other areas may result in poor reception. The RDS (radio data system) function operates only in areas with FM stations broadcasting RDS signals. ! Always keep the volume low enough so that you can hear sounds from outside the car. ! Protect this unit from moisture.
Section 01 Before You Start WAV file playback You can play back WAV files recorded on CDROM/CD-R/CD-RW (Linear PCM (LPCM)/MS ADPCM recordings). Switching the DSP setting mode This unit features two operation modes: the 3way network mode (NW) and the standard mode (STD). You can switch between modes as desired. Initially, the DSP setting is set to the standard mode (STD). ! After switching, reset the microprocessor.
Section 01 Before You Start % Press RESET with a pen tip or other pointed instrument. Feature demo The feature demo automatically starts when power to this unit is turned off while the ignition switch is set to ACC or ON. Pressing button 6 during feature demo operation cancels the feature demo mode. Press button 6 again to start the feature mode. Remember that if the feature demo continues operating when the car engine is turned off, it may drain battery power.

To switch to the built-in CD player, load a disc in the unit (refer to this page). % When using the head unit, press SOURCE to select a source.
Section 03 Basic Operations Adjusting the volume % Use VOLUME to adjust the sound level. With the head unit, rotate VOLUME to increase or decrease the volume. With the remote control, press VOLUME to increase or decrease the volume. the ignition, a warning tone will sound and the front panel will open. ! You can turn off the warning tone. See Switching the warning tone on page 70. ! You can turn off the flap auto open. See Switching the flap auto open on page 71.

Section 05 RDS Introduction of RDS operation 1 2 3 4 RDS (radio data system) is a system for providing information along with FM broadcasts. This inaudible information provides such features as program service name, program type, traffic announcement standby and automatic tuning, intended to aid radio listeners in finding and is tuning in to a desired station. # You can also switch between the functions in the reverse order by turning MULTI-CONTROL counterclockwise.
Section 05 RDS Selecting alternative frequencies If you are listening to a broadcast and the reception becomes weak or there are other problems, the unit will automatically search for a different station in the same network which is broadcasting a stronger signal. ! AF is on as a default. 1 Use MULTI-CONTROL to select AF. The function name tag AF is highlighted. 2 Press MULTI-CONTROL to turn AF on. AF :ON appears in the display. # To turn AF off, press MULTI-CONTROL again.
Section 05 RDS Notes ! Regional programming and regional networks are organized differently depending on the country (i.e., they may change according to the hour, state or broadcast area). ! The preset number may disappear on the display if the tuner tunes in a regional station which differs from the originally set station. ! The regional function can be turned on or off independently for each FM band. 4 Press TA while a traffic announcement is being received to cancel the announcement.
Section 05 RDS # To cancel the search, press MULTI-CONTROL again. Notes ! The program of some stations may differ from that indicated by the transmitted PTY. ! If no station is broadcasting the type of program you searched for, Not Found is displayed for about two seconds and then the tuner returns to the original station. Using news program interruption When a news program is broadcast from a PTY code news station the unit can switch from any station to the news broadcast station.
Section 05 RDS 2 Push MULTI-CONTROL left or right to recall the three most recent radio texts. Pushing MULTI-CONTROL left or right switches between the current and the three radio text data displays. # If there is no radio text data in memory the display will not change. Storing and recalling radio text You can store data from up to six radio text transmissions at buttons 1 6. 1 Display the radio text you want to store in memory. If no title has been entered for the currently playing disc, nothing is displayed.

Pause lets you temporarily stop playback of the CD. 1 Use MULTI-CONTROL to select PAUSE. The function name tag PAUSE is highlighted. 2 Press MULTI-CONTROL to turn pause on.
Section 06 Built-in CD Player # If a disc contains less than 10 tracks, pushing and holding MULTI-CONTROL right recalls the last track of the disc. Also, if the remaining number of tracks after searching every 10 tracks is less than 10, pushing and holding MULTI-CONTROL right recalls the last track of the disc. # If a disc contains less than 10 tracks, pushing and holding MULTI-CONTROL left recalls the first track of the disc.
Section 06 Built-in CD Player 5 Push MULTI-CONTROL right to move the cursor to the next character position. When the letter you want is displayed, push MULTI-CONTROL right to move the cursor to the next position and then select the next letter. Push MULTI-CONTROL left to move backwards in the display. # If specific information has not been recorded on a CD TEXT disc, title or name is not displayed. 6 Move the cursor to the last position by pushing MULTI-CONTROL right after entering the title.
Section 07 MP3/WMA/WAV Player Playing MP3/WMA/WAV 2 3 3 To perform fast forward or reverse, push and hold MULTI-CONTROL left or right. 5 4 These are the basic steps necessary to play an MP3/WMA/WAV with your built-in CD player. FF/REV Fast forward and reverse ! ROUGH Searching every 10 tracks If the current folder contains over 10 tracks, you can search every 10 tracks. When one folder contains a lot of tracks, you can roughly search for the track you want to play. 1 Select the search method ROUGH.

Names of files and folders appear in the display. 2 Use MULTI-CONTROL to select the desired file name (or folder name). Turn to change the name of file or folder; press to play; push right to see a list of the files (or folders) in the selected folder.

Repeating play There are three repeat play ranges for the multi-CD player: MCD (multi-CD player repeat), Track (one-track repeat) and Disc (disc repeat).
Section 08 Multi-CD Player # If the display has automatically returned to the playback display, select SCAN again by using MULTI-CONTROL. Note After track or disc scanning is finished, normal playback of the tracks will begin again. Pausing CD playback Creating a playlist with ITS programming You can use ITS to enter and play back up to 99 tracks per disc, up to 100 discs (with the disc titles).

Section 08 Multi-CD Player # No disc is displayed next to the disc number when there is no disc in the magazine. # To return to the playback display, press BAND/ESC. Using CD TEXT functions You can use these functions only with a CD TEXT compatible multi-CD player. Some discs have certain information encoded on the disc during manufacture. These discs may contain such information as the CD title, track title, artist s name and playback time and are called CD TEXT discs.
Section 08 Multi-CD Player English Using compression and bass emphasis You can use these functions only with a multiCD player that supports them. Using COMP (compression) and DBE (dynamic bass emphasis) functions lets you adjust the sound playback quality of the multiCD player. Each of the functions has a twostep adjustment. The COMP function balances the output of louder and softer sounds at higher volumes. DBE boosts bass levels to give playback a fuller sound.

Section 12 Audio Adjustments Operation modes Important When no power is supplied to this unit because of a change of the car battery or for some similar reason, the microcomputer of this unit is returned to its initial condition. If this happens, all memorized adjusted audio settings are erased. When you have completed audio setting adjustment, be sure to record the settings shown on page 80. Section 12 Audio Adjustments Using balance adjustment You can select a fader/balance setting that provides an ideal listening environment in all occupied seats. 1 Use MULTI-CONTROL to select FAD/BAL. The function name tag FAD/BAL is highlighted. 2 Push MULTI-CONTROL up or down to adjust front/rear speaker balance. Each pushing MULTI-CONTROL up or down moves the front/rear speaker balance towards the front or the rear.

Section 12 Audio Adjustments Slope Adjusting the HPF/LPF slope (filter attenuation slope) lets you adjust the continuity of sound between speaker units. ! The slope indicates the number of decibels (dB) the signal is attenuated when the frequency is one octave higher (lower) (Unit: dB/oct.). The steeper the slope, the more the signal is attenuated. Phase You can switch phase (normal, reverse) for each speaker unit s input signal.
Section 12 Audio Adjustments 3 Press and hold MULTI-CONTROL to mute the selected speaker unit (filter). MUTE blinks in the display. # To cancel the muting, press MULTI-CONTROL again. Adjusting network 1 Use MULTI-CONTROL to select NW 1. The function name tag NW 1 is highlighted. 2 Push MULTI-CONTROL left or right to select the speaker unit (filter) to be adjusted.
Section 12 Audio Adjustments # You can adjust the parameters for other speaker units (filters) in the same way. 10 Press BAND/ESC to cancel the network adjustment mode. Using subwoofer output This unit is equipped with a subwoofer output which can be switched on or off. When a subwoofer is connected to this unit, turn the subwoofer output on. The subwoofer output phase can be switched between normal and reverse. 1 Use MULTI-CONTROL to select SW 1. The function name tag SW 1 is highlighted.
Section 12 Audio Adjustments Using the high pass filter Muting the speaker units (filters) You can mute front and rear speaker units (filters) separately. When speaker units (filters) are muted, no sound is outputted from those speakers. ! If you mute the selected speaker unit (filter), MUTE is displayed and no adjustments are possible. ! Even if any speaker unit (filter) is muted, you can adjust the parameters for other speaker units (filters). 1 Use MULTI-CONTROL to select F-HPF 1 (or R-HPF 1).

Each pushing MULTI-CONTROL left or right selects cut-off frequencies in the following order: 50 63 80 100 125 160 200 (Hz) Only frequencies higher than those in the selected range are output from the rear speakers. 5 Push MULTI-CONTROL up or down to adjust the output level of the rear speakers. Each pushing MULTI-CONTROL up or down increases or decreases the level of the rear speakers.

Apéndice Información adicional Glosario Formato ISO9660 Es la norma internacional para la lógica del formato de las carpetas y los ficheros de un CD-ROM. Respecto de este formato, existen reglas para los siguientes dos niveles. Nivel 1: Para el nombre del fichero se utiliza un formato 8.3 (el nombre consta de hasta 8 caracteres, mayúsculas en inglés de medio byte, números de medio byte y el signo _ , con una extensión de tres caracteres.
Apéndice Información adicional PCM lineal (LPCM)/Modulación de códigos de impulso Esta sigla significa Linear Pulse Code Modulation (modulación lineal de códigos de impulso) y representa el sistema de grabación de señal que se utiliza para discos DVD y CD de música. VBR VBR es la abreviatura de velocidad de grabación variable. En general, se utiliza mucho más la velocidad de grabación constante (CBR).
