Transition Effect Editors: Basics
Tr a n s i t i o n s always require two video signals. The simplest type of transition effect is a Dissolve in
which the clip to the left of the Tra n s i t i o n on the Timeline (outgoing clip) is mixed with the sec-
ond clip (incoming clip). This involves two video signals. The parameters of these signals can be
controlled in the Effect Editors.
Transition Wipe Editor
One of the participating signals can also be “black”. This is the case if the Tr a n s i t i o n is
positioned at the beginning or end of a clip and thus touches an empty position (=
“black”) on the Timeline. Examples: fade-in, fade-out. See also
