If you want to descramble
programmes when receiving
scrambled broadcasts
When you can receive a scrambled
broadcast, you can descramble the
programme by connecting this VCR to
an external decoder through the VCR’s
AV2 IN/DECODER connector.
Complete the connection described on
page 34 and follow the instructions
below;
1Press MENU to access main menu
screen.
2Press or to select “MODE
SET”, then press OK or .
The mode set screen appears.
3Press or to select “AV2
SELECT”.
4Press OK or to select “DE-
CODER” then press MENU to exit.
5Press MENU again to access the
main menu.
6Press or to select “MANUAL
CH SET”, then press OK or .
The programmed channel informa-
tion list appears.
7Press to select the
channel position broadcasting
scrambled programmes, then press
OK twice. The Manual Channel Set
screen appears.
8Press until “OFF” (Decoder
setting) begins blinking, and set it to
“ON” by pressing or .
9Press OK. The programmed channel
information list appears.
10Press MENU.
If you want to perform fine-
tuning
Fine-tuning is performed automatically
during Auto Channel Set, but you can
also perform fine-tuning manually.
1Press MENU.
2Press or to select “MANUAL
CH SET”, then press OK or .
3Press until the item you
want to tune begins blinking. Press
OK twice. The Manual Channel Set
screen appears.
4Press until “+/–” begins blinking,
then press or until the picture is
clearest.
5Press OK. The programmed channel
list appears.
6Press MENU to exit the menu
operations.
If you want to change station
names
You can also change the station name
manually.
1Press MENU.
2Press to select “MANUAL CH
SET”, then press OK or .
3Press until the item you
want begins blinking.
4Press OK twice. The Manual
Channel Set screen appears.
5If you want to change the station
name to registered one (P.18), press
until the station name (ID) begins
blinking, then press or until the
new station name (ID) appears.
If you want to change the station
name to other than registered one,
press until the first letter of the
station name (ID) begins blinking,
then press or to cycle through
the characters (A–Z, 0–9, –,
*
, +, _
(space) and stop when the desired
character is indicated, then press
to enter. Enter the remaining
characters the same way (maximum
of 4).
•If you make a mistake, press
until the incorrect character begins
blinking. Then enter the correct
character by pressing or .
6Press OK. The programmed channel
list appears.
7Press MENU to exit menu opera-
tions.

ATTENTION
•If the channel positions are changed
or deleted, the Guide Programme
numbers that have been set are reset
or changed. If an attempt is made at
timer programming with VIDEO
Plus+ system in this state, the
“GUIDE PROG SET” screen
appears. Input the channel position on
which the broadcast for the PlusCode
number is received.

Guide Programme number for that
