IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
In addition to the carefulattention devotedto quality stan-
dards in the manufactureof your videoproduct, safety isa
major factor in thedesign of everyinstrument. But,safety is
your responsibilitytoo.
These pages list importantinformationthat will help toassure
your employment andproper use of a Video CassetteRecorder
and accessory equipment.Please read it carefullybefore
operating your videoproduct and keep it ina handy place for
future reference.
INSTALLATION
Caution: To prevent electricalshock, match wideblade
of plug to wide slot,fully insert.
1 Read and Follow Instructions- Allthe safety and
operating instructionsshould be read beforethe
video product is operated.Follow all operating
and use instructions.
2 Retain Instructions- The safetyand operating
instructions shouldbe retained for futurerefer-
ence.
3 Head Warnings - Complywith all warningson the
video product and in theoperating instructions.
4 Grounding or Polarization- The setsconcerned
should be operated withthe mains cable supplied.
5 Power Sources - Thisvideo product shouldbe
operated only fromthe type of power source
indicated on the markinglabel. If you arenot sure
of the type of powersupply to yourhome, consult
your video dealer orlocal power company. For
video products intendedto operate from battery
power, or other sources,refer tothe operating
instructions.
6 Overloading - Do notoverload wall outletsand
extension cords asthis can resultin a risk offire
or electric shock.Overloaded AC outletsand
extension cords aredangerous, and so are frayed
power cords, damaged orcracked wire insulation
and broken plugs. Theymay result in ashock or
fire hazard. Periodicallyexamine thecord and
have it replaced byyour service technicianif
appearance indicates damage ordeteriorated
insulation.
7 Power-Cord Protection- Power-supplycords
should be routed so thatthey are not likelyto be
walked on or pinched byitems placed upon or
against them, payingparticular attentionto cords
at plugs, convience receptacles,and the point
where they exitfrom the appliance.
8 Ventilation - Slotsand openings in thecabinet are
provided for ventilationto ensure operationof the
video product and to protectit from overheating.
These openings mustnot be blocked or covered.
The openings should neverbe blocked by placing
the video product on a bed,sofa, rug, or other
similar surface.This video productshould never
be placed near or over aradiator or heat register.
This video product shouldnot be placed in a
built-in installationsuch as bookcaseor rack
unless proper ventilationis providedor the video
product manufacturer’sinstructions havebeen
followed.
9 Attachments - Donot use attachmentsunless
recommended by the videoproduct manufacturer
as they may causehazards.
Caution: Maintain electricalsafety.Powerlines operated
equipment or accessoriesconnected to thisunit should bear
the UL listingmark or CSA certificationmark onthe accessory
itself and shouldnot have been modified soas to defeat the
safety features.This will helpavoid any potential hazardfrom
electric shock orfire. If in doubt,contact qualified personnel.
10 Water and Moisture- Do not use thisvideo
product near water -for example, near abath tub,
wash bowl, kitchensink, or loundrytub, in a wet
basement, or near a swimmingpool, and thelike.
