BRIGHTNESS Press the VOL (-) or (+) until darkest parts of the
picture are as bright as you prefer.
PICTURE Press the VOL (-) or (+) until lightest parts of the pic
ture show good detail.
COLOR Press the VOL (-) or (+) to add or reduce color.
TINT Press the VOL (-) or (-H) to obtain natural skin tones.
SHARPNESS Press the VOL {-) or (+) to improve detail in the
picture.

Closed Captioning

losed Captioning allows
you to read the voice
content of television pro
grams on the TV screen.
Designed to help the hearing
impaired, this feature uses on
screen "text boxes" to show
dialogue and conversations
while the TV program is in
progress.
Note: Broadcast stations will
often use spelling abbrevia
tions, symbols, dropouts and
other grammatical shortcuts
in order to keep pace with the
on screen action. These fac
tors vary with the source of
the captioned text material
and do not indicate a need
for TV service.

Note: Usually “CAPTION 1" is
the preferred mode for viewing
captioned material.
CAPTION 1 or 2 mode: dia
logue (and descriptions) for the
action on the captioned TV pro
gram shows on screen. (See

TEXT 1 or 2 mode: a black
box only will be displayed on
the TV screen. If the TEXT
mode is^actiye, text or informa
tion will be displayed for view
ing.

Press the STATUS/EXIT
button on the remote after
making your Caption mode
selection. The TV display will
clear and Captioning material
(if available on the currently
selected TV program) will
appear on the TV screen.
To cancel, set the CAPTION
feature to OFF when finished
viewing.
Remember,
not all TV
programs and com
mercials are broad
cast with Closed
Caption (CC)
information.
Neither are all
Closed Caption
modes necessarily
being used by a
broadcast station
during the transmis
sion of a Closed
Caption program.
Refer to your area's
TV program listings
for the stations and
times of Closed
Caption shows.

Operation Tips and Notes:
(1) Captions and texts may not exactly match the TV voice broadcast.
(2) Interference may cause the Closed Caption system to function improp
erly.
(3) The caption or text characters will not appear if the on screen menu or
channel number display is on screen. Closed Captioning may be
delayed briefly when you change channels.
(4) If a black box appears on screen, your TV is set to a TEXT mode. To
clear the screen, select CAPTION 1, CAPTION 2 or OFF.
Glossary
Round Cable 75Q - A single solid antenna wire normally matched with a
metal plug (F-type) end connector that screws (or pushes) directly onto a
75il input found on the Television or VCR. (Also known as Coaxial
Cable.)
Display - Allows the user to quickly confirm what channel number is cur
rently being viewed.
Jack Panel - Refers to the area on the back of the TV cabinet.
On Screen Displays (OSD) - Refers to the wording or messages generat
ed by the television (or VCR) to help the user with specific feature con
trols (color adjustment, programming, etc.).
Menu - An on screen listing of feature controls shown on the television
screen that are made available for user adjustments.
Programming - The procedure of adding or deleting channel numbers in
the television’s memory circuits. In this way the television “remembers”
only the locally available or desired channel numbers and skips over any
unwanted channel numbers.
Remote Sensor Window - A window or opening found on the television
control panel through which infrared remote control command signals are
received.
Twin Lead Wire - The more commonly used name for the two-strand
300fi antenna wire used with many indoor and outdoor antenna systems.
In many cases this type of antenna wire requires an additional adaptor (or
balun) in order to connect to the 75il Input terminals built into more
recent televisions and VCRs.
Reminder - When in the ON position, a continuous display of the current
channel number is shown on the TV screen.
Volume Bar - When in the ON position, this feature displays an on screen
volume bar (which will appeal' whenever TV volume level adjustments are
made.)
