Important safety
information
Only use the product for its intended
purpose. Read this important information
carefully before you use the product and
its batteries and accessories, and save it
for future reference. Misuse can lead to
hazards or serious injuries. Accessories
supplied may vary for dierent products.
Warning
- Keep the appliance dry (Fig. 2).
- This appliance can be used by children
aged from 8 years and above and
persons with reduced physical,
sensory or mental capabilities or
lack of experience and knowledge
if they have been given supervision
or instruction concerning use of
the appliance in a safe way and
understand the hazards involved.
Children shall not play with the
appliance. Cleaning and user
maintenance shall not be made by
children without supervision.
- Do not use a damaged appliance.
Replace damaged parts with new
Philips parts.
- Because of hygiene, only one person
should use the appliance.
- Never use compressed air, scouring
pads, abrasive cleaning agents
or aggressive liquids to clean the
appliance.
- Only use original Philips accessories or
consumables.
- Only operate this product on
disposable 1.5V AA alkaline batteries.
- Do not recharge non-rechargeable
batteries.
- Keep product and batteries away from
re and do not expose them to direct
sunlight or high temperatures.
- If the product becomes abnormally
hot or smelly, or changes color, stop
using the product and contact Philips.
- Do not place products and their
batteries in microwave ovens or on
induction cookers.
- Do not modify, pierce, damage or
dismantle the product or battery
to prevent batteries from heating
up or releasing toxic or hazardous
substances. Do not short-circuit,
overcharge or reverse charge
batteries.
- If batteries are damaged or leaking,
avoid contact with the skin or eyes.
If this occurs, immediately rinse well
with water and seek medical care.
- When you handle batteries, make sure
that your hands, the product and the
batteries are dry.
- Insert batteries with the + and - poles
pointing in the direction indicated in
the battery compartment or holder.
- Do not mix dierent brands and types
of batteries, do not mix new and used
batteries and do not use batteries
with dierent date codes.
- Remove batteries from the product if
you are not going to use it for some
time.
- To avoid accidental short-circuiting
of batteries after removal, do not let
battery terminals come into contact
with metal objects (e.g. coins, hairpins,
rings). Do not wrap batteries in
aluminum foil. Tape battery terminals
or put batteries in a plastic bag before
you discard them.
- Do not leave empty disposable
batteries inside the product.
Electromagnetic elds (EMF)
This Philips appliance complies with all
applicable standards and regulations
regarding exposure to electromagnetic
elds.
Preparing for use
Inserting the batteries
The appliance operates on two R6 AA
1.5-volt alkaline batteries. Preferably
insert new Philips alkaline batteries to
get optimal shaving performance.
Make sure that your hands are dry
when you insert the batteries.
1 Remove the cover of the battery
compartment (Fig. 3).
2 Place two batteries in the battery
compartment (Fig. 4).
Note: Make sure the + and -
indications on the batteries match
the indications in the battery
compartment.
Note: The appliance does not work
if the batteries have been inserted
incorrectly.
3 Put the cover of the battery
compartment back onto the
appliance. First place the top part of
the cover and then press down the
bottom part until you hear a click
(Fig. 5).
How to avoid damage due to
battery leakage
- Do not expose the appliance to
temperatures higher than 35°C.
- Remove the batteries if you are not
going to use the appliance for a
month or more.
- Do not leave empty batteries in the
appliance.
Shaving time
Two new Philips alkaline batteries oer a
shaving time of 60 minutes.
Using the appliance
Switching the appliance on and
o
1 Press the on/o slide to unlock it and
push it upwards to switch on the
shaver (Fig. 6).
Note: The on/o slide has an
integrated switch lock to prevent
accidental switching on of the shaver.
2 Push the on/o slide downwards to
switch o the shaver.
Shaving
1 Remove the protection cap.
2 Switch on the shaver (see 'Switching
the appliance on and o').
3 Move the shaving heads over your
skin. Make both straight and circular
movements (Fig. 7).
- Shave on a dry face only. Do not
use the shaver in combination with
gel, foam or water.
- Your skin may need 2 to 3 weeks
to get accustomed to the new
Philips shaving system.
4 Switch o the shaver.
5 Clean the appliance after use (see
'Cleaning and maintenance').
6 Put the protection cap on the shaving
unit after use to prevent damage
and to avoid dirt accumulation in the
shaving heads (Fig. 8).
Cleaning and maintenance
Never use scouring pads, abrasive
cleaning agents or aggressive liquids
such as petrol or acetone to clean the
shaver and its accessories.
Clean the shaver after every shave to
guarantee better shaving performance.
After every shave: shaving unit
and hair chamber
1 Switch o the appliance.
2 Clean the top of the appliance with
the cleaning brush supplied (Fig. 9).
3 Press the release button (Fig. 10).
4 To remove the shaving unit, pull
itstraight o the appliance.
5 Clean the inside of the shaving unit
with the cleaning brush (Fig. 11).
6 Clean the hair chamber with the
cleaning brush (Fig. 12).
7 Put the shaving unit back onto the
shaver (Fig. 13).
Thorough cleaning
Preparation
1 Switch o the appliance.
2 Press the release button (Fig. 10).
3 To remove the shaving unit, pull
itstraight o the appliance.
Remove the shaving heads
1 Push the sides of the central spring
towards each other and lift the
retaining frame out of the shaving
unit (Fig. 14).
2 Slide the shaving heads out of the
retaining frame (Fig. 15). Remove and
clean one shaving head at a time.
Each shaving head consists of a cutter
and a guard.
Note: Do not clean more than one
cutter and shaving guard at a time,
they are all matching sets. If you
accidentally put a cutter in the
wrong shaving guard, it may take
several weeks before optimal shaving
performance is restored.
3 Remove the guard from the cutter
(Fig. 16).
Clean the cutter and the guard
1 Clean the cutter with the cleaning
brush. Brush carefully in the direction
of the arrows (Fig. 17).
2 Clean the guard with the cleaning
brush (Fig. 18).
Install the shaving heads
1 Put the cutter back into the guard
(Fig. 19).
2 Slide the shaving heads back into the
retaining frame (Fig. 20).
Note: Make sure that the notches on
the shaving head t exactly onto the
projections on the retaining frame.
3 Put the retaining frame back into the
shaving unit (‘click’) (Fig. 21).
4 Put the shaving unit back onto the
shaver (Fig. 13).
Storage
Keep the appliance dry (Fig. 2).
Use and store the appliance at a
temperature between 5°C and 35°C.

2 Put the protection cap on the shaving
unit after use to prevent damage
and to avoid dirt accumulation in the
shaving heads (Fig. 8).
Replacement
For maximum shaving performance,
we advise you to replace the shaving
heads every two years (Fig. 22). Replace
damaged shaving heads immediately.
Always replace the shaving heads with
original Philips shaving heads (see
'Ordering accessories').

cleaning'.

Removal of disposable batteries
Remove disposable batteries from the
product when they are empty and
when you discard the product. To remove
disposable batteries, see the instructions
for placing and/or removing batteries in
the user manual.
Take any necessary safety
precautions when you dispose of
batteries.

Warranty restrictions
The shaving heads (cutters and guards)
are not covered by the terms of the
international warranty because they are
subject to wear.
