General Information IMPORTANT! - The voltage selector located inside the battery compartment of this system is preset at 220V-240V from the factory. For countries that operate at 110V-127V, please adjust to 110V-127V before you switch on the system. ● Use a cotton swab slightly moistened with cleaning fluid or alcohol. Supplied accessories ● You can also clean the heads by playing a cleaning tape once.

English Installation 110V 220V AC power cord 1.5V x 8 UM2 or “C” size Warning: Never make or change connections with the mains supply switched on. Speakers Attaching the supplied speakers As shown below, align the tabs between the speaker and the main unit, then slide the speakers downwards until it locks into place. Repeat the same steps to attach the other speaker. Connecting the speakers Use the supplied speakers only.
Installation English Power Supply Using AC power Whenever convenient, use the power supply cord if you want to conserve battery life. Make sure you remove the plug from the set and wall outlet before inserting batteries. Batteries (not included) 1 Open the battery compartment door and insert eight batteries, type R-14, UM-2 or C-cells, (preferably alkaline) with the correct polarity as indicated by the "+" and "–" symbols inside the compartment.
Radio reception 1 2 3 4 Switching on/off the system and selecting functions 1 2 3 Press POWER to switch on. ➜ The power indicator lights up. To select your function, adjust the source selector to CD, TAPE or TUNER. Press POWER to switch the system off. ➜ The power indicator lights off. Adjusting volume and sound Push the Source selector to TUNER. Adjust the Band selector to AM, FM or FM ST. (stereo) to select your desired waveband. ➜ FM ST.
Disc Operation English Playing discs 1 2 IMPORTANT: The lens of the CD player should never be touched. Open the CD door, and insert a CD with the printed side facing up, then press the CD door gently to close. ➜ Display shows --, and later the total number of tracks. 3 PressÉÅ to start playback. ➜ Display shows current track number. 4 To pause playback, pressÉÅ. To resume, pressÉÅ again. ➜ Display shows current track number and the flashing dot. 5 X Adjust the Source selector to CD.
1 2 3 4 5 Programming tracks Different play mode: REPEAT You may store up to 20 tracks in the desired sequence. If you like, store any track more than once. You can select and change the play mode before or during playback, and combine the REPEAT mode with PROG (program). In the stop position, press PROG to activate programming. ➜ PROG indicator flashes. ➜ Display shows 0, indicating the start of the program. Repeat one (REPEAT indicator flashes) – plays the current track continuously.
Tape Operation / Recording English General information on recording ● Recording is permissible insofar as copyright or. other rights of third parties are not infringed. ● For recording, use only NORMAL type cassettes (IEC type I) on which the tabs have not yet been broken. This deck is not suited for recording on CHROME (IEC II) or METAL (IEC IV) type cassettes. ● The best recording level is set automatically. Altering the VOLUME or DBB will not affect the recording.

Troubleshooting English WARNING Under no circumstances should you try to repair the system yourself, as this will invalidate the warranty. Do not open the system as there is a risk of electric shock. If a fault occurs, first check the points listed below before taking the system for repair. If you are unable to remedy a problem by following these hints, consult your dealer or Philips for help.
