10 ENGLISH PREPARING FOR USE Machine packaging The original packaging has been designed and constructed to protect the machine during transport. We recommend keeping the packaging material for possible future transport. Machine installation 1 Remove the drip tray with grill from the packaging. 2 Remove the machine from the packaging. 3 For best use, it is recommended to: • • • Choose a safe, level surface, where there will be no danger of overturning it or being injured.
ENGLISH 11 5 Lift the left outer lid and remove the inner lid. 6 Remove the water tank by the handle. 7 Rinse the water tank under fresh water. 8 Fill the tank with fresh water up to the MAX level and re-insert it into the machine. Make sure it is fully inserted. Caution: Never fill the water tank with warm, hot, sparkling water or any other liquid, as this may cause damage to the water tank and the machine. 9 Open the lid of the coffee bean hopper and take out the inner lid.

ENGLISH 13 USING THE MACHINE FOR THE FIRST TIME Automatic rinse/self-cleaning cycle When warm-up is completed, the machine automatically performs a rinse/ self-cleaning cycle of the internal circuit with fresh water. This takes less than a minute. 16 Place a container under the dispensing spout to catch the small amount of water which will be dispensed. RISCALDAMENTO... RINSING Note: You can stop dispensing by pressing the “STOP RINSING” button.

Water is a crucial part of every espresso, so it’s most important to always have it professionally filtered.

22 ENGLISH Saeco Adapting System Coffee is a natural product and its characteristics may change according to its origin, blend and roast. The machine is equipped with a self-adjusting system that allows the use of all types of coffee beans available on the market (not for caramelized beans). The machine automatically adjusts itself after brewing several cups of coffee to optimize the extraction of the coffee to the compactness of the ground coffee.
ENGLISH 23 2 Press and turn the grinder adjustment knob one notch at a time. You will taste the difference after brewing 2-3 cups of espresso. 3 The reference marks on the coffee bean hopper lid indicate the grind setting.
24 ENGLISH Adjusting the aroma (coffee strength) Choose your favorite coffee blend and adjust the amount of coffee to be grounded until they meet your personal taste. You can also select the preground coffee function. Note: Selection must be made prior to selecting coffee. The machine allows you to adjust the right quantity of ground coffee for each product. The standard adjustment for each product can be set in the “BEVERAGE MENU” (see the Beverage Programming chapter, Coffee amount option). 1.3.

ENGLISH 29 5 Add one scoop of pre-ground coffee to the compartment. Use only the measuring scoop supplied with the machine. Then close the preground coffee compartment lid. Warning: Add only pre-ground coffee to the pre-ground coffee compartment. Other substances and objects may cause severe damages to the machine. The repair of this is not covered by your warranty. 6 Press “OK” to confirm and start brewing.
30 ENGLISH MILK CARAFE This chapter explains how to use a milk carafe to prepare a cappuccino, latte macchiato or hot milk. Note: Before using the milk carafe, clean it thoroughly as described in the chapter “Cleaning and Maintenance” chapter. We recommend to fill it with cold milk (approx. 5°C). After use, put the carafe back in the refrigerator. DO NOT leave the milk out of the refrigerator for more than 15 minutes. Warning: Do not pour any other liquid than water for cleaning or milk into the carafe.
ENGLISH 31 4 Place back the lid and close the milk carafe dispenser by turning it counter clockwise. The milk carafe is now ready to use. Inserting the milk carafe 1 Slightly tilt the milk carafe and then insert the front part into the machine. 2 At this stage the carafe holes (A) are lower than the couplings (C). The C pins (B) are located at the same height of the guides (D).
32 ENGLISH 3 Push the carafe towards the bottom while rotating at the same time, until it is locked at the (external) drip tray (E). Caution: Do not use force while inserting the carafe. E Removing the milk carafe 1 Close the milk carafe dispenser by turning it counter clockwise. Wait few seconds. The machine starts the automatic cleaning process (see the Cleaning and Maintenance chapter).
ENGLISH 33 Emptying the milk carafe 1 Open the milk carafe dispenser by turning it clockwise. 2 Press the release buttons. 3 Lift the lid. Empty the milk carafe and clean it properly. Note: After each use, clean the milk carafe as described in the “Cleaning and Maintenance” chapter.

The machine starts the automatic cleaning process (see the Cleaning and Maintenance chapter). 11 When the cleaning cycle is finished, remove the milk carafe and put it in the refrigerator.

ENGLISH 52 MILK FOAM 1.3.6. CAPPUCCINO MILK FOAM ESC MINIMUM This section allows you to program the milk frothing method. = minimum frothing = medium frothing = maximum frothing = no frothing (only available for hot milk and caffelatte) NORMAL MAXIMUM Press the “ ” or “ ” scrolling buttons to select and press the “OK” button to confirm. OK Note: when the frothing option is disabled, the temperature of the dispensed milk might be lower.
ENGLISH 53 WATER LENGHT 1.6.1. HOT WATER By adjusting the bar on the display by pressing the “ ” or “ ” scrolling button, you can choose the quantity of hot water to be dispensed. Press “OK” to confirm the adjustment. WATER LENGTH ESC OK RESTORE DEFAULT VALUES Reset the original factory settings. After selecting this function, the customized settings are deleted. MACHINE PROGRAMMING The machine allows you to customize the machine settings. These settings apply to all user profiles.
54 ENGLISH General settings GENERAL SETTINGS CUP WARMER ECOMODE FUNCTION The general settings allow you to change the operation settings. This function allows you to switch on/off the warming function of the cupwarming surface located on the upper part of the machine. The ECOMODE FUNCTION enables you to save energy by limiting the boiler activation to one when the machine starts up. If you want to brew more milk beverages, the heating time may be longer. The function is set ON by default.
ENGLISH 55 Display settings DISPLAY SETTINGS LANGUAGE BRIGHTNESS The display settings allow you to set the language and the display brightness. This setting is important to automatically adjust the parameters of the machine according to your country. This setting allows you to adjust the brightness of the display.
56 ENGLISH Calendar settings CALENDAR SETTINGS TIME DATE STAND-BY SETTINGS This function allows you to set time, calendar, stand-by time and power-on timer. For setting hour, minutes and time format (24h or AM/PM). For setting year/month/day/format The STAND-BY SETTINGS set the time interval for the machine when to go into stand-by mode after the last brewing. The stand-by time varies from 15, 30, 60 and 180 minutes. The default time value is 30 minutes.
ENGLISH 57 CALENDAR SETTINGS POWER-ON TIMER The power-on timer function automatically activates the machine at the weekday and time selected by you. The machine performs this function only if the power button is switched to on. It is possible to set 3 different power-on times, which can be managed independently. Note: the switch-off time is programmed through the Stand-By setting function. TIMER 1 00:00 HOUR 00 This menu allows you to adjust and set the first power-on time.
58 ENGLISH Water settings WATER SETTINGS WATER HARDNESS ENABLE FILTER ACTIVATE FILTER The WATER SETTINGS allow adjusting the water parameters for optimal coffee. Under “WATER HARDNESS”, you can set the level of water hardness. To measure water hardness, refer to chapter “MEASURING AND PROGRAMMING WATER HARDNESS” By enabling the filter, the machine notifies the user when the water filter needs to be replaced. OFF: warning disabled.
ENGLISH 59 Maintenance settings MAINTENANCE SETTINGS The MAINTENANCE SETTINGS allow setting all the functions for correct machine maintenance. PRODUCT COUNTERS The PRODUCT COUNTERS function shows how many products have been brewed for every single type of coffee since the last reset. DESCALING CYCLE The DESCALING CYCLE function activates the descaling cycle (please see chapter “Descaling”).
60 ENGLISH CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE Daily cleaning of the machine Caution: Timely cleaning and maintenance of your machine is very important as it prolongs the life of your machine. Your machine gets exposed to moist, coffee and lime scale continuously! In this chapter it is described in detail which activities you need to perform at which frequency. Not doing this will ultimately make your machine stop working properly.
ENGLISH 61 3 Empty the coffee grounds drawer and wash it with fresh water. 4 Empty and wash the (internal) drip tray and the cover with fresh water. 5 Correctly reinstall all the components. 6 Insert the tray and the coffee grounds drawer and close the service door. Note: If the coffee ground drawer is emptied when the machine is off, the coffee grounds counter is not reset. In this case the machine might display the “EMPTY COFFEE GROUNDS DRAWER” message too soon.
62 ENGLISH Daily cleaning of the milk carafe: AUTO CLEAN cycle (after each use) After each brewing of a milk beverage the machine performs an automatic cleaning cycle by routing shots of steam through the milk dispenser. This cycle may also be manually activated by pressing the “ the control panel. This can be done at any time. ” button on 1 Insert the milk carafe into the machine as described in the milk carafe chapter. Close the milk dispenser.

Weekly cleaning of the milk carafe The weekly cleaning is more thorough as it removes any milk residues from the milk dispenser of the carafe. 1 The carafe must be removed from the machine and emptied before cleaning. 2 Open the milk dispenser by rotating it clockwise. 3 Press on the sides and lift the lid. 4 Rotate the handle counter-clockwise to the unlock position up to the “ ” symbol.
ENGLISH 65 5 Remove the connector which is in contact with the machine. 6 Remove the handle with the suction tube. 7 Remove the suction tube. Note: Make sure the suction tube is fully inserted. If it is not fitted up to its limit, the carafe might not operate correctly since no milk is sucked. 8 Pull out the external fitting. 9 Remove the internal fitting. 10 Clean all the parts thoroughly with lukewarm water. 11 Reassemble the parts following the reverse order.
66 ENGLISH Weekly cleaning of the brew group The brew group should be cleaned every time the coffee bean hopper is filled or at least once a week. 1 Press the button and open the service door. 2 Remove the (internal) drip tray and coffee grounds drawer. 3 To remove the brew group, press the «PUSH» button and pull it by the handle. 4 Thoroughly wash the brew group with fresh, lukewarm water and carefully clean the upper filter. Caution: Do not use detergent/soap to clean the brew group.
ENGLISH 67 8 Gently pull down the lever until it is in contact with the brew group base and the two reference signs on the side of the brew group do match. 9 Make sure the hook to lock the brew group is in the correct position by firmly pressing the “PUSH” button until you hear a click. Check if the hook is at the top end position. If it is not, please try again. 10 Insert the brew group in its seat again until it locks into place without pressing the “PUSH” button.
68 ENGLISH Monthly cleaning of the milk carafe In the monthly cleaning cycle we use the Saeco Milk Circuit Cleaner to keep the entire circuit clean of milk residues. You can purchase separately the Milk Circuit Cleaner. Please refer to the maintenance products page for further details. Warning: Danger of scalding! Dispensing may be preceded by short sprays of hot water and steam. Risk of burning. Do not touch the hot water/steam wand with bare hands.

It needs to be removed regularly as it may clog the water and coffee circuit of your machine. The machine indicates when descaling is needed. Caution: Not doing this will ultimately make your machine stop working properly, and in this case repair is NOT covered by your warranty. Use the Saeco decalcifier only.
76 ENGLISH REFILL WATER TANK WITH DESCALING SOLUTION 4 Remove the water tank, and if installed, remove the INTENZA+ water filter. Pour the entire content of the Saeco decalcifier. Then fill the water tank with fresh water up to the MAX level. Press the “OK” button. OK EMPTY DRIP TRAY PLACED UNDER THE BREW GROUP 5 Empty the (internal) / (external) drip tray. The rinsing cycle is performed in order to have the circuit cleaned with a preset amount of water to ensure proper machine performance. If the water tank is not filled up to MAX level, the machine might require two or more cycles.
