Introduction
Congratulations on your purchase and welcome to Philips! To fully

Clean cold water
Use clean cold water every day. If you have not used the machine for 1 day,
you have to ush it with clean cold water before you use it again. To ush the
machine, ll the water reservoir with clean cold water, place a bowl or 2 cups
under the spout and press the 2-cup button a few times to brew hot water until
the water reservoir is empty.
Important safety information
Read this user manual carefully before you use the machine and save it for
future reference.
Danger
- Never immerse the machine in water or any other liquid.
Warning
- Check if the voltage indicated on the bottom of the machine corresponds to
the local mains voltage before you connect the machine.
- Connect the machine to an earthed wall socket.
- If the mains cord is damaged, you must have it replaced by Philips, a service
center authorized by Philips or similarly qualied persons in order to avoid a
hazard.
- Do not use the machine if the plug, the mains cord or the machine itself is
damaged.
- This machine can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and
by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of
experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of the machine in a safe way and if they understand the
hazards involved.
- Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are
older than 8 and supervised.
- Keep the machine, its accessories and its cord out of the reach of children
aged less than 8 years.
- Children shall not play with the machine.
- Always disconnect the machine from the mains when you clean it.
- Make sure the lid is closed properly and the lid lever is locked before you start
brewing.
- Only use this appliance for its intended purpose to avoid potential hazard or
injury.
Caution
- Always return the machine to a service center authorized by Philips for
examination or repair. Do not attempt to repair the machine yourself,
otherwise your warranty becomes invalid.
- After unpacking the machine, never put your SENSEO® machine on its side.
Always keep it in upright position, also during transport.
- Never put normal ground coee or use torn pods in the pod holder, as this
causes it to become blocked.
- Do not use the machine in combination with a transformer, as this could
cause hazardous situations.
- Always put the machine on a at and stable surface.
- Do not place the machine on a hotplate or directly next to a hot oven, heater
or similar source of heat.
- Do not place the machine in a cabinet when in use.
- Never let the machine operate unattended.
- Do not use the machine at altitudes higher than 2200 meters above sea level.
- Do not use the machine at a temperature below 0°C. Water left in the
machine may freeze and cause damage.
- Never pour any other liquid than clean cold water into the water reservoir.
- Never ush the machine or let it brew coee when the spout is not in place.
- Flush the coee machine with fresh water before you use it for the rst time.
This causes the system to ll with water, which is essential for the machine to
work properly.
- Do not use the machine in combination with water softeners based on
sodium exchange.
- Descale your machine regularly. The machine indicates when descaling is
needed. Not doing this will make your machine stop working properly. In this
case, repair is not covered by your warranty.
- Never interrupt the descaling process.

- Never use a descaling agent based on mineral acids such as sulphuric acid,
hydrochloric acid, sulphamic acid and acetic acid (e.g. vinegar). These
descaling agents may damage your coee machine.
- The machine is intended for normal household use only. It is not intended
for use in environments such as sta kitchens of shops, oces, farms or other
work environments, nor is it intended to be used by clients in hotels, motels,
bed and breakfasts and other residential environments.
- Do not disassemble the insulated jug.
- Never immerse the insulated jug in water or any other liquid, as this could
cause water to enter between the walls of the jug.
- When the insulated jug is lled with coee, keep it in upright position to
prevent leakage.
- The insulated jug is not dishwasher-proof.
- During brewing (until the light stops ashing), the lter holder contains hot
coee.
Compliance with standards
This machine complies with the applicable standards and regulations regarding
exposure to electromagnetic elds.
The energy consumption of this machine in o mode is less than 0.5 Watt. This
means that this machine complies with European Directive 2009/125/EC, which
sets the ecological design requirements for energy-using products.
Frost-free storage
If you already used the coee machine and have therefore already ushed it
with water, you may only use and store it in a frost-free place to prevent it from
becoming damaged.

Troubleshooting
This chapter summarizes the most common problems you could encounter with
the machine. If you are unable to solve the problem with the information below,
visit www.philips.com/support for a list of frequently asked questions or
contact the Philips Consumer Care Center in your country.

If you double press the
1-cup or 2-cup button within
3seconds, the machine brews
one or two cups of short
strong coee.
The temperature
of the coee
decreases quickly.
The type of cup you use
is unable to retain the
coee temperature for a
long time.
Use thin-walled cups. Thin-
walled cups absorb less heat
from the coee than thick-
walled cups. This ensures that
your coee stays hot longer.
You have not preheated
the cups.
Rinse the cups with hot water.
You can preheat the coee
machine and cup by brewing a
cup of hot water rst without
placing a coee pod in the pod
holder.
You have added cold
milk to the coee.
Do not use cold milk straight
from the refrigerator.
The lter coee is
not hot enough.
You have not brewed a
full jug.
Coee stays hot longer if you
brew a full jug of coee.
You have not removed
the pod holder.
If you do not remove the
pod holder, this can lead to a
longer brewing time.
You have not preheated
the insulated jug.
Rinse the insulated jug with
hot tap water to preheat it .
You have added cold
milk to the coee.
Do not use cold milk straight
from the refrigerator.
Coee grounds
end up in the
insulated jug.
Your paper lter
collapsed during
brewing.
To prevent the paper lter
from collapsing, fold the sealed
edges.
The coee is
weaker than
expected.

enough pre-ground

Use one heaped measuring
spoon of pre-ground coee

It is possible to brew even shorter stronger cups of coee by double pressing the
1-cup or 2-cup button.
 Specialcoees
To brew a special coee, place a cappuccino pod, a hot chocolate pod or
another special coee pod in the 2-cup pod holder and press the 1-cup button.
 Cleaning
Never use scouring pads, abrasive cleaning agents or aggressive liquids such as
petrol or acetone to clean the machine. Never rinse the inside of the machine
with the lid open. All detachable parts except for the water reservoir and the
insulated jug are dishwasher-proof.
 2xdescaling,2xushing
Descale the machine when the CALC light starts ashing. Use liquid Senseo
descaler only. The descaling procedure consists of two descaling cycles and two
ushing cycles. Each cycle lasts 5 minutes. For each descaling cycle, you have to
pour half a bottle of descaling liquid into the water tank and ll it up with fresh
water. Use the 1-cup pod holder with a used pod or the thin descaling lter
during the rst descaling cycle and use the 2-cup pod holder with a used pod or
the thick descaling lter during the second descaling cycle. Do not interrupt the
descaling cycles and do not switch o the machine before you have performed
the two ushing cycles. The CALC light continues to ash until the descaling
procedure is completed correctly. Throw used pods or descaling lters away after
use. If you have not used the machine within 12 hours after descaling, a one-time
additional ush is needed before brewing a new coee. For more information

Sauberes kaltes Wasser
Verwenden Sie täglich sauberes kaltes Wasser. War die Maschine über 1Tag
nicht in Gebrauch, lassen Sie vor dem nächsten Aufbrühen sauberes kaltes
Wasser durchlaufen. Um die Maschine durchzuspülen, füllen Sie den Wassertank
mit sauberem kaltem Wasser, stellen Sie eine Schüssel oder zwei Tassen unter
den Auslauf, und drücken Sie mehrmals die 2-Tassen-Taste, damit heißes Wasser
durchläuft, bis der Wassertank leer ist.

- Vergewissern Sie sich vor der Zubereitung, dass der Deckel richtig
geschlossen und der Verschlusshebel des Deckels fest verriegelt ist.
- Verwenden Sie dieses Gerät nur für den angegebenen Zweck, um potenzielle
Gefahren und Verletzungen zu vermeiden.
Achtung
- Geben Sie das Gerät zur Überprüfung bzw. Reparatur stets an ein Philips

- Legen Sie die SENSEO® Maschine nach dem Auspacken nie auf der Seite ab.
Halten Sie sie stets aufrecht, auch beim Transport.
- Verwenden Sie keinesfalls normalen gemahlenen Kaee oder beschädigte
Pads im Padhalter, da dies das Gerät verstopfen würde.
- Aus Sicherheitsgründen darf das Gerät nicht mit einem Transformator
betrieben werden.
- Stellen Sie die Maschine auf eine ebene und stabile Fläche.
- Stellen Sie die Maschine nicht auf eine Warmhalteplatte, direkt neben einen
heißen Ofen, eine Heizung oder eine ähnliche Wärmequelle.
- Die Maschine darf während der Benutzung nicht in einem Schrank platziert
werden.
- Lassen Sie das eingeschaltete Gerät niemals unbeaufsichtigt.
- Benutzen Sie das Gerät nicht in Höhenlagen von über 2200m.
- Benutzen Sie das Gerät nicht bei Temperaturen unter 0°C. In der Maschine
verbleibendes Wasser kann gefrieren und Schäden verursachen.
- Füllen Sie niemals eine andere Flüssigkeit als sauberes, kaltes Wasser in den
Wassertank.
- Spülen Sie die Maschine nicht durch und bereiten Sie keinen Kaee zu,
solange der Kaeeauslauf nicht eingesetzt ist.
- Spülen Sie die Kaeemaschine mit frischem Wasser durch, bevor Sie sie das
erste Mal verwenden. Dabei füllt sich das System mit Wasser. Dies ist für den
ordnungsgemäßen Betrieb der Maschine entscheidend.
- Verwenden Sie in Verbindung mit Ihrer Kaeemaschine keine
natriumhaltigen Wasserenthärtungsmittel.
- Entkalken Sie Ihre Maschine regelmäßig. Die Maschine zeigt an, wenn sie
entkalkt werden muss. Wenn Sie dies ignorieren, funktioniert die Maschine
nicht mehr richtig. In diesem Fall ist die Reparatur von der Garantie
ausgeschlossen.
- Unterbrechen Sie nie den Entkalkungsvorgang.
- Verwenden Sie keine Entkalker auf Basis von Mineralsäuren, beispielsweise
Schwefel-, Salz-, Sulfamin- oder Essigsäure (z.B. Essig). Diese Entkalker
könnten Ihre Kaeepadmaschine beschädigen.
- Die Maschine ist nur für den normalen Hausgebrauch bestimmt. Sie ist nicht
für die Verwendung in Umgebungen wie z.B. Personalküchen in Geschäften,
Büros, landwirtschaftlichen Betrieben oder anderen Arbeitsumgebungen
vorgesehen. Ebenso ist sie nicht für die Nutzung durch Kunden in Hotels,
Motels, Unterkünften mit Frühstücksangebot oder anderen Unterkünften
bestimmt.
- Nehmen Sie die isolierte Thermo-Kanne nicht auseinander.
- Tauchen Sie die isolierte Thermo-Kanne niemals in Wasser oder eine andere
Flüssigkeit, da dadurch Wasser zwischen die Wände der Thermo-Kanne
gelangen kann.
- Halten Sie die mit Kaee gefüllte Thermo-Kanne senkrecht, damit sie nicht
tropft.
- Die Thermo-Kanne ist nicht spülmaschinenfest.
- Während des Brühvorgangs (solange die Anzeige blinkt) bendet sich heißer
Kaee im Filterhalter.
Einhaltung von Normen
Dieses Gerät entspricht den anwendbaren Normen und Vorschriften bezüglich
der Exposition gegenüber elektromagnetischen Feldern.
Der Energieverbrauch dieser Maschine im ausgeschalteten Modus beträgt
weniger als 0,5Watt. Das bedeutet, dass diese Maschine der EU-Richtlinie
2009/125/EC entspricht, die die ökologischen Designanforderungen für
energieverbrauchende Produkte regelt.
Frostfreie Aufbewahrung
