- Do not use the appliance outdoors or in moving vehicles or boats.
- Depending on the hardness of the water in your area, small spots may
appear in the teapot. This phenomenon is the result of scale build-
up on the inside of the teapot over time. The harder the water, the
faster scale builds up. Scale can occur in different colours. Although
scale is harmless, too much scale can inuence the performance
of the appliance. Descale the appliance regularly by following the
instructions in chapter ‘Descaling’.
- The lter has an embedded magnet in its bottom surface. Keep the
lter away from bank cards, credit cards, audio tapes, video tapes,
computer monitors, TV screens, sharp metal objects etc.
- Never use scouring pads, abrasive cleaning agents or aggressive liquids
such as petrol or acetone to clean the appliance.
Boil-dry protection
This appliance is equipped with boil-dry protection. The boil-dry protection
automatically switches off the appliance if it is accidentally switched on
when there is no water or not enough water in it. If this happens, the
appliance produces an alarm sound and the light ring ashes. Lift the
appliance from its base and ll it with cold tap water to reset boil-dry
protection. The appliance is now ready for use again.
Electromagnetic elds (EMF)
This Philips appliance complies with all standards regarding electromagnetic
elds (EMF). If handled properly and according to the instructions in this
user manual, the appliance is safe to use based on scientic evidence
available today.
Before rst use
1 Remove all packaging materials and foils from the teapot and the
base.
2 Place the base on a dry, at and stable surface.
Note: Do not place the base near a hot stove.
3 Unwind the cord from the reel in the base until it has the desired
length. Wedge the cord into the slot in the base.
4 Rinse the inside of the teapot with hot water. If you want, you can
use a soft brush and some washing-up liquid.
Do not immerse the teapot in water. Make sure the connector on the
underside of the teapot stays dry.
