Getting Started Step 2: English Step 1: Inserting batteries into the Remote Control Setting up the TV IMPORTANT! Make sure you have completed all the necessary connections. (See pages 7-8 “Connecting TV”). 1 Turn on the TV and set it to the correct Video-In channel. Step 4: Setting the speakers’ channels You can adjust the delay times (centre and surround only) and volume level for individual speakers. These adjustments let you optimize the sound according to your surroundings and setup. IMPORTANT! The speaker settings only available on Multi-channel audio outputs. Disc Operations English IMPORTANT! – Depending on the DVD or VIDEO CD, some operations may be different or restricted. – Do not push on the disc tray or put any objects other than discs in the disc tray. Doing so may cause the disc player to malfunction. Region Codes This DVD Player is designed to support the Region Management System. Check the regional code number on the disc package. If the number does not match the Player’s region number (see table below), the Player may be unable to playback the disc.
IMPORTANT! If the inhibit icon (X) appears on the TV screen when a button is pressed, it means the function is not available on the current disc or at the current time. Playing Super Audio CD (SACD) Zoom picture ● During playback, press ZOOM repeatedly to display the picture with different scales. There are three types of SACD discs: single layer, double layer or hybrid disc. The hybrid disc contains both Super Audio CD and standard audio CD layers, only the SACD layer is possible to playback on this DVD player. ● Use 1 2 3 4 to view the zoomed picture. Karaoke Vocal Enables you to play multi-channel karaoke DVDs. ➜ On – Karaoke channels on the disc will be mixed into normal stereo, allowing you to hear both the lyrics and music together. ➜ Off – The sound from lyrics will be muted. Dimmer To adjust the brightness of front panel display. ➜ Low – Set to the lowest level of brightness. ➜ Medium – Set to the medium level of brightness. ➜ Normal – Set to the normal level of brightness. Parental Level Some DVDs may have a parental level assigned to the complete disc or to certain scenes on the disc. This feature lets you set playback limitation level. The rating levels are from 1 to 8 and are country dependant.You can prohibit the playing of certain discs that are not suitable for your children or have certain discs played with alternative scenes (if available on disc). ● VCD, SVCD, CD have no level indication, so parental control has no effect on those kinds of discs.
Troubleshooting English WARNING Under no circumstances should you try to repair the system yourself, as this will invalidate the warranty. Do not open the system as there is a risk of electric shock. If a fault occurs, first check the points listed below before taking the system for repair. If you are unable to remedy a problem by following these hints, consult your dealer or Philips for help.
