Make you DVD Drive on your Desk Top or Lap Top multiregional.
Many DVD’s on computer systems will only allow the user to change the region code a maximum of 5
times before locking the DVD in the region it was last used.
This is frustrating to say the least, especially if you work abroad and have the opportunity to view films
from different regions (or purchase films on E Bay).
Follow these instructions to make the DVD on your desktop or laptop multiregional.
Please note, an internet connection will be required.
Identify exact model and firmware version of your DVD drive.
To do this, download “DISC Info” from
www.dvd-supply.com/lib/dvdsupply/DISCInfo155.zip
Extract the file and launch the application and make a note of the information it displays about your
DVD drive.
On the internet, you need to go to www.rpc1.org
Click on the link “Download Firmware”
Find you drive model number as shown in Disc Info
(Check to see if there are any firmware updates available from the manufacturer – a link should take
you to their site)
Back on the download page, use the download search link to locate the required “firmware-flashing”
software for your drive.
Install the appropriate “firmware-flashing” software.
Restart your computer when instructed.
You will now need to remove the “Checking” which is built into windows and the DVD playback
software.
Install DVD Genie from
www.inmatrix.com/genie and install in on your computer.
Run DVD Genie and select the tab for your DVD playback software.. Select the region for your DVD
playback. You will no longer be restricted to 5 changes the a lock out.
Should windows disputes the number of changes made, reset it by clicking on the windows tab and use
the “erase” command to remove the region settings from the memory.
