Firmware version 5.02Da through 5.02E: you can't use this setup until you've upgraded your firmware to version
5.02Ee.
The player may halt on FBI warnings...If the player does freeze at the FBI warnings, Press Forward Search x2 or
faster.
Note: Earlier firmware versions will not play The Matrix or There’s Something About Mary but can be upgraded,
firmware update does not remove setup. This setup also removes Macrovision.
Samsung DVD P142
1. Ensure disc tray is empty.
2. Press "Repeat" (this is on the bottom right of the remote control and shouldn't be confused with Repeat A/B
which is on the left) on the R/C then enter 5,7,5,3,8
3. The number "2" (current region code) should appear in the top left of the screen.
4. Quickly press the number "9" button on the R/C, for "multi region".
6. Wait 20 seconds, then power off, then on again.
Samsung DVD S221
1. Press REPEAT in the RC (Remote Control);
2. Press the sequence 5,7,5,3,8;
3. On the upper left corner will appear the region code.
4. Choose from 1-6 for respective region or 9 for region free;
5. Press OPEN on DVD's panel to open the tray;
6. Wait for 15 seconds;
7. Press POWER on the RC (The tray closes) and the DVD player turns off;
8. Press POWER to turn on the DVD player.
Samsung DVD-S224
1. Turn on the player and ensure that there is no disc in the tray.
2. Press Menu and Repeat in quick succession on the remote.
3. Press 7, 7, 6, 8, 8, 4, 9.
4. Press Open/Close
5. Wait for 15 seconds before powering off the player with the remote.
Converting this player to Multi-Region if the above code fails:
1. Press Repeat on your remote control.
NB: Do not confuse this with the Repeat A-B button.
2. Press 5, 7, 5, 3 and 8 on your remote control, in order one at a time.
3. The numbers 02 will be displayed on the top left of your onscreen display.
4. Press 1 for region 1, 2 for region 2, and so on, or 9 for multi-region playback.
5. Press Open.
6. Wait for 15 seconds before powering off the player with the remote.
NB: The above steps need to be performed fairly quickly (Although not VERY quickly)
If the any of the setups listed below fail to work then you may want to consider using the other codes listed further
down this page. Remember that the steps may need to be entered quickly and from a cold start.
Always perform a Cold Start before applying this setup:
1. Power on your player
2. Press and hold both the Play and Stop buttons on the players front panel
3. After a short while you should be presented with a set of language options (choose from 1 to 6).
4. Release the Play and Stop buttons on the player.
