Do not press the Disc or force the Disc into the Player. If the Player does not automatically accept the Disc, press Eject to make sure there is not a Disc already in the Player. Load the Disc with the label facing left (shiny side facing right). If the Disc is two-sided, the label of the side you want to play must face left.

(ROOT MENU may appear in the top right corner of the TV screen briefly.) The menu will show the features that are available on the Disc.The menus are different for every Disc, because all Discs do not have the same features. Or, press RETURN/TITLE if the current Title of the current DVD has a Title menu. The Title menu will appear on the screen.

The easiest way to choose a different language is to press the remote’s AUDIO button repeatedly during DVD play.This lets you choose from the languages available on the current DVD. Or, to use the Player’s menu to change the Audio language, follow the steps below.

Or, to use the Player’s menu to change subtitles, follow the steps below. Not all languages listed for SUBTITLE in the DVD Player’s menu are available for every Disc.

This feature will not limit viewing if the Disc manufacturer did not code the Disc. Philips cannot guarantee the availability of Parental Control with all Discs, and therefore denies any liability associated with unintended watching of Discs. Make sure your Discs play according to your Parental Control settings before you allow children access to the Player or Discs.

MP3 is common on the Internet, letting you transfer Tracks to your computer and onto a CD Recordable or CD Rewritable disc. Materials and equipment with which to make MP3 recordings are not supplied with this Player. MP3 Tracks are recorded at a certain bit rate or speed.

For example, you may have photographic film developed by a retailer that places the pictures on a CD-R for you.These pictures may be in JPEG format.You cannot make or record such CD-Rs using this Player. See your computer manual for details on making CD-R recordings.

NTSC is the most common in the United States.Your TV also operates according to a Color System. This Player is compatible with NTSC and PAL. This unit’s Video Output jacks send either regular Component Video or Progressive Scan Video. Choose the setting that matches the video compatibilities of your TV. Before you begin, make sure VIDEO OUTPUT is set to CVBS/YCbCr. See details on page 34. No picture will appear if the selected SCAN MODE does not match your TV connection.

Use only the supplied power cord. • Make sure the power outlet has power by trying another appliance in the same outlet. No picture • Make sure the TV power is on. • Check the video cable(s).
