Introduction With this unit, you can enjoy audio from the iPod, iPhone, other audio devices, or the FM/DAB radio. The radio, iPod, or iPhone can be set as the alarm timer. You can set two alarm timers to go off at different time.

3 Get started Caution • Use of controls or adjustments or performance of procedures other than herein may result in hazardous radiation exposure or other unsafe operation. 3 x1.5V R6/UM-3/AA 1 2 Open the battery compartment. 3 Close the battery compartment. Insert 3 x AA batteries with correct polarity (+/-) as indicated. Prepare the remote control Caution • Risk of explosion! Keep batteries away from heat, sunshine or fire. Never discard batteries in fire. For first-time use: 1 Remove the protective tab to activate the remote control battery.
To replace the remote control batteries: 1 2 Open the battery compartment. 3 Close the battery compartment. Insert one lithium CR2025 battery with correct polarity (+/-) as indicated. Note • Before you press any function button on the remote control, first select the correct source with the remote control instead of the main unit.
Connect power Caution • Risk of product damage! Ensure that the power voltage corresponds to the voltage printed on the back or underside of the apparatus. • Risk of electric shock! When you unplug the AC adaptor, always pull the plug from the socket. Never pull the cord. • Before connecting the AC adaptor, ensure that you have completed all other connections. • Use the supplied AC power adaptor only. Note • The type plate is located on the bottom of the main unit.

» 5 Press SET TIME/AUTO SCANto confirm.The hour digits begin to blink. 6 Repeat steps 4-5 to set the hour, minute, year, month, and day. Tip • The accuracy of the transmitted time depends on the DAB station or the docked iPhone/iPod that transmits the time signal. Turn on 1 Press POWER on the remote control. » The unit switches to the last selected source. Switch to standby 1 Press POWER again to switch the unit to standby mode. » The time and date (if set) appear on the display panel.

2 Place the iPhone/iPod into the dock. 3 Press iPhone/iPod on the remote control to select iPod/iPhone source. » The connected iPod/iPhone plays automatically. • To pause/resume play, press OK/ . • To skip to a track, press TUNING - /TUNING • • + . To search during play, press and hold TUNING /TUNING + , then release to resume normal play. To go back to the previous iPod/iPhone menu, press MENU. To scroll through the menu, press PRESET + /PRESET - . To confirm a selection, press OK/ .
» If no key is pressed for more than 10 seconds, OK/ acts back as the play/pause key. Charge the iPod/iPhone When the unit is connected to power, the docked iPod/ iPhone begins to charge. Tip • For certain iPod models, it may take up to a minute before the charging indication appears. Play from an external device You can also listen to an external audio device through this unit. 1 2 Press MP3 LINK to select the MP3 link source. 3 Start to play the device (see the device user manual).
5 Listen to radio Listen to Digital Audio Broadcasts (DAB) Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB), is a way of broadcasting radio digitally through a network of transmitters. It provides you with more choice, better sound quality, and more information. 1 Press FM/DABrepeatedly to select DAB. » The unit automatically scans DAB radio stations. The unit stores all available DAB radio stations and then broadcasts the first available station. » If no DAB service is available, [NO SERV] is displayed.
Program DAB radio stations manually 1 2 Tune to a DAB radio station. 3 4 5 Press TUNING - Press SET TIME/AUTO SCAN to activate the program mode. /TUNING + to select a number. Press SET TIME/AUTO SCAN to confirm. Repeat the above steps to program other stations. Note • To overwrite a programmed station, store another station in its place. Listen to a preset DAB radio station 1 In DAB mode, press TUNING select a DAB radio station. 2 Press OK/ /TUNING + to confirm.
Show DAB information 1 During listening to DAB radio, press INFO repeatedly to scroll through the following information (if available): » Dynamic Label Segment (DLS) » Signal strength » Program type (PTY) » Ensemble Name » Channel and frequency » Signal error rate » Bit rate and audio status » Date Perform more functions through DAB menu 1 In DAB mode, press and hold MENU to enter the DAB menu.
• • [DRC 0]: Dynamic Range Control is switched off. [DRC 1/2]: Dynamic Range Control is set to half normal level. [DRC 1]: Dynamic Range Control is switched on; the default setting recommended for noisy environment. • 4 Press OK/ to confirm. Listen to FM radio Tune to a radio station Tip • Position the antenna as far as possible from TV, VCR or other radiation source. • For optimal reception, do not place iPhone/iPod into the dock when you listen to the radio. Note • For optimal reception, fully extend and adjust the position of the antenna. 1 2 Press FM/DAB to select FM tuner. Press and hold TUNING than 2 seconds. /TUNING + for more » The radio tunes to a station with strong reception automatically.
Program radio stations automatically You can program a maximum of 20 preset radio stations. 1 In the tuner mode, press and hold SET TIME/AUTO SCAN for more than 2 seconds to activate automatic program mode. » The unit starts to search for radio stations. » All available stations are programmed in the order of waveband reception strength. » The first programmed radio station is broadcast automatically. Program FM radio stations manually You can program a maximum of 20 preset radio stations.
Tip • To overwrite a programmed station, store another station in its place. Listen to a preset radio station 1 In tuner mode, press PRESET + select a preset number. /PRESET - to Show RDS information RDS (Radio Data System) is a service that allows FM stations to show additional information. If you tune to a RDS station, the station name is displayed. 1 2 Tune to a RDS station.
6 Other features Set the alarm timer You can set two alarms which go off at different time. 1 Ensure that you have set the clock correctly. (See “Get started - Set time and date”.) 2 Press and hold AL1 or AL2 for 2 seconds. » The [AL1] or [AL2] icon and the hour digits begin to blink. 3 4 Press TUNING - /TUNING + to set the hour. Press AL1 or AL2 to confirm. » The [AL1] or [AL2] icon and the minute digits begin to blink. 5 6 Repeat steps 3-4 to set the minute.
Turn on/off the alarm timer Note • Ensure that you already set the alarms successfully. 1 Press AL1/AL2 to turn on or off the alarm timer. » If the alarm timer is turned on, the alarm icon appears. » If the alarm timer is turned off, the alarm icon disappears. Repeat alarm 1 When the alarm rings, press REP AL/BRIGHTNESS. » The alarm repeats ringing minutes later. Tip • You can press TUNING - /TUNING + interval (5-30 minutes) to repeat alarm.
Stop alarm ring 1 When the alarm rings, press the corresponding AL1 or AL2. » The alarm stops but the alarm settings remain. View the alarm settings 1 Press AL1 or AL2. Set the sleep timer This unit can switch to standby automatically after a set period of time. 1 Press SLEEP repeatedly to select a set period of time (in minutes). » When the sleep timer is activated, the display shows . To deactivate sleep timer 1 Press SLEEP repeatedly until [OFF] (off ) is displayed.
Adjust display brightness 1 Press REP AL/BRIGHTNESS repeatedly to select different levels of display brightness.
7 Adjust sound Adjust volume level 1 During play, press + VOL - to increase/decrease the volume level. Select a preset sound effect 1 During play, press DSC repeatedly to select: • [POP] (pop) • [CLASSIC] (classic) • [JAZZ] (jazz) • [FLAT] (flat) • [ROCK] (rock) Enhance bass 1 During play, press DBB to turn on or off dynamic bass enhancement. » If DBB is activated, [DBB] is displayed.

9 Troubleshooting Warning • Never remove the casing of this apparatus. To keep the warranty valid, never try to repair the system yourself. If you encounter problems when using this apparatus, check the following points before requesting service. If the problem remains unsolved, go to the Philips web site (www.philips.com/ welcome). When you contact Philips, ensure that the apparatus is nearby and the model number and serial number are available.
Poor radio reception • Increase the distance between the unit and your TV or VCR. • Fully extend the FM antenna. Timer does not work • Set the clock correctly. • Switch on the timer. Clock/timer setting erased • Power has been interrupted or the power plug has been disconnected. • Reset the clock/timer.
