IMPORTANT NOTE for BDP9700/12, /51, /79, /93, /98
Before upgrading the firmware to the latest version (v4.42)
- Check the current firmware version of your device first.
- Follow the below instructions step by step. Otherwise firmware upgrade would fail and
the device may be permanently damaged.
If the current firmware version is below v4.35:
1. Upgrade the device to v4.38 through USB first:
i) Unzip the download file and there are 2 zip files inside.
ii) Choose the zip file v4.38 and unzip it in USB. Do not rename the UPG folder. Follow
the upgrade procedure mentioned in later pages.
iii) Double check that firmware version is now v4.38.
2. After upgrading to v4.38, upgrade the set to v4.42 through USB:
i) Unzip the download file and there are 2 zip files inside.
ii) Choose the zip file v4.42 and unzip it in USB. Do not rename the UPG folder. Follow
the upgrade procedure mentioned in later pages.
iii) Double check that firmware version is now v4.42.
If the current firmware version is v4.35 or later:
1. Upgrade the set to v4.42 through USB.
i) Unzip the download file and there are 2 zip files inside.
ii) Choose the zip file v4.42 and unzip it in USB. Do not rename the UPG folder. Follow
the upgrade procedure mentioned in later pages.
iii) Double check that firmware version is now v4.42.
